Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [26th February - 3rd March 2016]

Wenger won't leave. The board won't sack him because he's still bringing in enough lolly to prop silent Stan up and his keep his yank football teams in new stadiums.

We are being taken for utter mugs.

You are the richest club in Europe (well in regards to cash in the bank , £150m or so) according to Final score

Something like that anyway

Wenger just doesnt spend it for one reason or another :D

If we pick up a guy like Simeone it changes the whole footballing ethos we have, I was hoping for somebody to continue Wengers work, a team playing attractive football... but paper over the weaknesses a bit. I just don't know who that man is.

The man to take us forward imo was klopp, we should have broken the bank and signed him on a pre contract agreement.

Let wenger see out the season then appoint klopp for the summer

Out of whats out there id happily have pellegrini, knows the premiership inside out and has proven track record

Other teams have players off the boil, but this is ONE year for them, this is EVERY year for us. Mourinho is a bad manager who IMHO basically criticises and shouts to motivate players, in the short term they work harder, in the long term they lose motivation, aren't training well and become too intimidated by a shouting manager to even try anything. That team looked seized up from fear of what manager would say about a loose pass, with that criticism and black cloud removed they are one of the most in form teams in the league with the best players playing at their best.

Utd are in a rebuilding phase, have half the team out injured in any given week on top of that and new managers and new players to deal with. It's neither a settled squad nor a finished rebuild. Liverpool are under new management, rebuilding and need to do it again after buying mostly the wrong players. City have lost away form and have a semi crock yet brilliant striker and CB. An ageing central mid who WILL be replaced and years of not good enough buys filling out the team.

Arsenal are the only team with a manager who has been in charge for what, more than 3 years let alone a decade. None of these managers had control of ALL decisions in the past decade. None of the other managers chose EVERY SINGLE PLAYER, had complete control of the youth setups, the buying, the budgets, re-signing bad players, buying most of the bad players.

Wenger is in the same situation as exactly not a single other manager in the league, nor in the german or Spanish leagues. He is solely responsible for how the squad is, he's not taking over another managers mistakes, every mistake is his own. He has also purposefully ignored the fans, pundits, everyone who has pointed out the biggest problems. Every single other person in europe saw not buying another DM to be a major major problem, Wenger thought it was fine.

Wenger broke the bank to give Walcott even more money a week to be utterly worthless.

How is top 4 being off the boil? Would Arsenal be allowed a finish outside top 4?

The fans were not there for the team tonight and they had great opportunity to be 12th man and get Arsenal within 3 points...

We have got two win able games coming up then City away. That will be the cruncher. Look at the team United fielded today and the injuries we have. Hopefully now the players will start trickling back in and Rooney can stay injured for longer!

FYI we only have West Brom away (who got a decent draw away to Leicester last night) - which wont be easy by any means - before the City game

I presume you were referring to EPL games anyway, as it appears as though CP game at home is postponed according to the BBC

....postponed because of the FACup match the next day vs WHU

Ancelotti would have been good but he's still on the Real, Barca, Bayern merry go round.

It would be unbelievable if West Ham, Spurs and Leicester finished in the top 4. The crazy thing is that it no longer sounds unrealistic! Really hope West Ham do it, they've been great this season.

That was my hope as well, as much as I like seeing Klopp in the premiership I'm gutted its not in an Arsenal dugout.

No - I grew up watching George Graham Arsenal, I don't want to go back to that.

I also think the guy is a ****.

Cheeky one... and not that he'd be likely to leave Leicester if they won the league... but what about Claudio? I'll stop throwing names out there, I think the non Arsenal fans are getting bored of the monthly "Who should manage Arsenal next?" sidetrack!
