Unless american airlines offers wifi I'll miss the derby which is pretty garbage, nerves will be even worse not watching it, is it really that bad to have your phones signal turned on during a flight :p?

Tough to know what formation Fergie should play for the best against Chelsea on Sunday, I've only seen them a few times this season and never really paid much attention to what formation they've played but are Hazard and Mata providing much width or is it all fairly central? Even ignoring those two though Cole and Ivanovic cant be given too much freedom to get forward down the wings either, big decisions to be made....

Have to keep Chelsea busy down the sides as much as possible. Scholes is needed for his passing accuracy but I would be concerned about his legs lasting against the young /speedy midfield that Chelsea are likely to put out (especially if Lampard is injured for the match)

First week in ages I really just don't want to go to a home game.

It'll be high scoring because our back line is a shambles of individual errors and putting fat/unfit keepers in because they need a go is a sure fire way to have a grim couple of games of football :(

Just hope spurs have an off day, play Lloris who throws a few easy balls to our strikers and we get a 3-3...

Wouldnt be surprised if QPR beat us over the weekend, we are a complete and utter mess at the moment both defensively and offensively as shown by our last 2 games ie Norwich and Schalke.

Hopefully we can get a result but it wont be easy much like the Norwich game last weekend.

Wenger needs to drop Gervinho and Ramsey for a start, both have been utterly rubbish. Would like to see Arshavin get a start, hes a much better player than Gervinho imho and we need to start both Pod and Giroud together as well, have Giroud upfront and Pod on the left wing. Giroud needs to get more game time so he can get his confidence back and against QPR, i reckon he might bang in a few goals.

But we all know what Wenger will do, he will start Gervinho and Ramsey and have Giroud on the bench:p

Ah but QPR (thankfully) are still utterly dire so it'll only be a close game... :p

:p any team playing Arsenal will make it a close game so wouldnt be surprised if we end up losing or end up with a draw.

Meanwhile at our AGM today, seems like there was a lot of discontent from the shareholders according to whats being said on SSN. Not surprising really as the fans and shareholders are getting mighty fed up of us not winning anything, selling our best players to rivals ie RVP to Utd for example, us not signing world class players and the worst one is Arsenal fans being charged through the nose sky high prices to watch games :/. Pretty sure someone posted an article on here highlighting just how expensive our season price tickets are, our lowest priced season tickets are higher than any other club at the moment and the galling thing is that we havent won anything for 7 yrs now so how the Arsenal board can justify the cost is truly beyond me.

We didn't

That 6-1 made Gervinhio look like a world class player, been scratching my head why DM posts a 2000 essay on how bad he is every week...

LOL since then we have been rubbish, absolute rubbish. Reckon if we played you guys now, it would be much closer than the first game.

One game does not make that muppet a world class player:p. If he was more consistent then yes but so far hes been decidedly average. Even as a die hard Arsenal fan, i could hardly get excited about Gervinho's performance in the Southampton game:p...for me it was a flash in the pan type of performance:p.

DM isnt half wrong about Gerv, i havent been impressed with him from day one when we bought him last year. Problem is DM just posts a lot of faff before getting to the point.

More importantly, most of his play in that game was crap, scoring a couple goals, IIRC a great pass from Arteta and running in on goal with no defenders in the way and a tap in.... that doesn't make a performance. Essentially lets be honest, anyone could have scored those goals, anyone. The rest of his performance was the usual getting on the ball, dawdling on the ball, bad passing and running into dead ends.

One of the reasons he got goals rather than did nothing, was both Southampton aren't remotely as good as most of the other teams we played and he did actually manage to stay somewhat central. Same goes for his first preseason game, played wide left, rubbish, his goals, 2 yard tap ins playing more centrally. Last night at his worst because he wondered all over the place, wide right, wide left, getting on the ball and trying to create.

Anyone, even anyone in this forum can and will score a bunch of goals if they hang around 6 yards from goal and get chances to shoot, ability wise he's rubbish, of course he'll score now and then.

Standing infront of a goal and swinging your leg is completely different level of ability than getting on the ball, passing, interplay, creating chances or shooting from more difficult ranges/positions.

Ruud Van Nistelrooy was one of the most effective strikers in the world based around 2 yard tap ins. That a player scores a lot from close range isn't necessarily a bad thing. Perhaps the six yard box is Gerv's best position?

That's neither here nor there, being able to get 2 yard tap ins, against a bottom of the table team, a couple times a season doesn't turn you into an effective goal scorer. I'm merely saying that scoring a couple tap ins doesn't equate a top performance, because it doesn't. Every other part of his game was crap as usual that game, not as bad as usual, but not playing as good a team as what would be considered average in the league.

You can be effective as a goal scorer and if you are so good at it you might still be worth having in the team even if the rest of your game sucks.... Gervinho isn't that good at it, and the rest of his game does suck.

RVN was a great finisher, in a better team, he was a better finisher, his all around game is better than Gervinho's, he's no Messi, or, I dunno, think of an example less flattering and his all around game wouldn't match up to them either, but he was fairly strong, his movement was excellent, he worked hard and he could also score from further out. IE you can shoot and score a good shot from 25 yards even if you get most of your chances and score most of your goals from 2 yards, its still an ability you have. You can also score all your goals from 2 yards and from 25 yards out you have as much chance of hitting the corner flag as scoring.

Gervinho is not a good footballer, in some games he'll put in a couple simple goals. A much better player can be good in almost every game and is every bit as capable of scoring a tap in, but offers so so so much more to the team throughout 90 minutes that having Gervinho in is nothing short of a waste of a position.
