Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [27th Jan - 1st Feb 2012]

How was Carroll tonight, apart from his goal? Looked like he was starting to find his first touch against Utd at the weekend.

Regardless of his goal, he was excellent. Won nearly everything in the air and brought others into play really well. By the end of the game he was turning away from Wolves players and playing through balls for Kuyt and Bellamy in the channels.

City look a completely different team to the one that started the season. Either Yaya Toure is the linchpin that made them so deadly in the first half of the season and gives Silva his mojo, or the great bottle job of 2012 has started and United will end up less worse and finish top.

So sweet seeing Nasri fail consistently. <3

Just think had Webb sent Balotelli off against Spurs like he should have done we'd be 2 points clear now :(

I don't know how we are keeping up with City this season. We have most of our first team injured and we are still doing alright. United for the title, maybe even Tottenham second.

Some writer on Footie 365 tried to say the same thing, problem is they also managed to notice City have been crap since 2 months ago.... when Yaya and Silva were playing every game. Yaya ran out of steam, looked shattered and looked poor, still got goals but that was from his 1-2 driving runs a game rather than 10-15 runs a game. They didn't rest him, which was a mistake, and they haven't got anyone in midfield who can provide the same bursting into the box, Milner constantly goes out wide or just passes to Silva, Silva has been cack and Nasri has been cack.

It's really simple from the first game they tried to today, Nasri/Silva on the wings gives zero pace, no driving force, no strength and the lack of central midfielders to provide that is killing them.

Barry, Milner, sans in form Yaya looking utterly crap..... which they looked all season but certain people managed to ignore it and see a win and assume they played well.

Barry and Milner aren't good enough, Milner can be on his day, Barry is just awful.

Thing is, Yaya is hardly likely to look full of life and fresh after the ACN so not convinced he's going to come back in his best form at all.

if we hadn't have been robbed by the ref at stoke and balotelli had been sent off, we'd have been top :D

And with the lovely homegrown quota they can't replace all the dross english players with expensive imports. What a shame...

Still, Chelsea look terrible (as do we) so they'll still finish top 4. Wonder if they'll go for Jose in the summer?

Glad to see Pogba getting some time on the pitch, he certainly looks a lot more promising after tonight compared to Carling Cup chances earlier in the season (where nearly everything was poor) but that could be nerves etc being so young

Valencia had another great game, pity Berba couldnt have got that pretty easy chance right at the end

Still......Chelsea away (even without Cole) is a completely different prospect, and will be a huge challange, despite how badly they have been playing for majority of this season
