Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [27th Jan - 1st Feb 2012]

From the BBC

Sir Alex Ferguson has just been asked about former charge Darron Gibson's contribution to their title challenge after his goal for new club Everton proved the difference in Manchester City's defeat. The United boss said that "it was all part of the plan".

The problem is we head to the Bridge on Sunday and we have a terrible record there, hopefully we can nick it.

tbh that's exactly why tonight's win for Everton was so huge for us. Even if we lose worst the table will be is that we're back to 3 points off them with City still to play Chelsea themselves (albeit at the Eastlands)

4th is going to be a real fight this year, Chelsea getting worse and worse and with more "AVB does something nuts and upsets the players" storys every couple weeks, I can only really see the team getting worse. He certainly doesn't seem to be improving the team at all, killing team morale, arbitrarily getting rid of players.

Arsenal are inconsistent as hell, as are Liverpool and Newcastle I think overall seem a tad more consistent in overall play with their first team and have only been noticeably worse(mostly) when having a bunch of injuries and their only striker away.

I think any of Chelsea through to Newcastle can nick it, but really the only team that has "improved" in this transfer window is Newcastle. Spurs 7 points clear of 4th now, would be very shocked if they didn't finish top 4 now.

Brilliant

73% possession to spurs. i feel sorry for wigan, they're so clueless but their hearts in it

Just got back from t'pub

True, what do you expect with tire clueless tactics and clueless championship esq players

Bale is class but what Watson was doing letting Bale get on his left foot in the box I will never know, its school boy errors, get them on the weakest foot

Wigan could have had a few goals at the end, Spurs just got sloppy and switched off, how Sammon missed that open goal.

Yeah I agree, I would just love us to get in front of them, see how they cope with chasing.

It seems like we make big strides and then end up dropping points, frustrating.

great isn't it? :D

Also why wasn't Assou-Ekotto sent off for a shocking tackle, clear red, scraped his studs all down Di Santos shin.

Vile, had to go off as well from the tackle but its ok, its only Wigan

Sky sports commentary

BAD TACKLE BY EKOTTO! Benoit Assou-Ekotto comes over the top of the ball on Franco Di Santo's ankle which could have easily snapped! And the assistant referee looking straight at the incident doesn't say anything. That should have been a stright red!

Notice how you missed that out CM1179
