Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [27th Jan - 1st Feb 2012]

Lindegaard is nothing more than the Roy Carroll of the 21st century :p

I don't think he's an outstanding keeper, he's not a great shot stopper, he doesn't have a huge presence which the pundits love to harp on about the only thing he did have in his favour was he hadn't made any mistakes in the games he'd played so it was easy for Fergie to put him in when he dropped De Gea. Problem with that is the game immediately following being made number 1 against Newcastle he was rubbish and he followed that up by making a mistake which easily equals anything De Gea has done against City.

That's the problem now we have 2 error prone keepers and the one that certainly looks like he's going to be very good in the future has zero confidence due to the lack of faith put in him. If they both looked average I wouldn't care but De Gea does have that little bit of class about him that has me as a believer in him long term. The way he's been handled though does he have a long term future at United?

He had plenty of opportunity in his post match stuff, he said the first goal wasn't his fault and nothing else, he's really coming across as just not liking the guy. Maybe he's been too chatty to Berbatov.

Not sure what you want Fergie to say tbh? He didn't lay blame at him for either goal at the weekend AFAIK and if you look at his biggest clanger (imo against Blackburn) all he said about that goal is that the whole team should have done better

The only time Fergie's failed to really stick up for him was his debut against WBA when he said something along the lines of welcome to the PL

I agree Fergie's dealt with the keeper situation badly but talking up De Gea in the media after every mistake is hardly going to be the up-most thing in his mind after a defeat is it

We now have John Terry joining Frank Lampard and Ramires on the injury list and not making the Swansea game so we may well see Gary Cahill’s Chelsea debut tomorrow night. JT and Frank should be ok for the Man U game on Sunday.

Away game at Leeds will be a tough. Hoping we can continue our winning form and climb back into the playoffs. Both teams are pretty similar so picking up a point won't be to bad and a win would be a bonus.

Seems like Lindegaard is injured and De Gea is sick, so it looks like Kuszczak is in tonight and Amos sub, that's if De Gea doesn't recover.

I read something about PIG/Amos this morning, I just figured it was a **** take seeing as both De Gea and Lindegaard had been doing badly :p

Didn't realise there's a real chance of it actually happening

PIG's finished at United though so if both De Gea and Lindegaard do miss the game then I reckon Amos will be in :/

Rumoured Starting XI for tonight;

Amos, Smalling, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Park, Berbatov, Welbeck

I'm extremely surprised he hasn't gone to be honest. It can't get any worse, can it?:p

Amos getting injured and Ferdinand being in goal vs Chelsea (if the £50m statue still cant score then that would actually be a story :D)

At this rate by the time Liverpool visit OT in 10 days time or so Utd wont have a fit goalie or majority of a defence (not to mention the non existant central midfield that most opposing players can waltz through at their free will) :(

With that line up - who's most likely to score......Carrick? Possibly Valencia......another two points dropped to City, at best (nervous defence affecting the rest of the team)

I'm hoping Berba and Welbeck will get a couple between them, if that is the team of course.

Well come on - its not exactly as though that team is full of 1st time regs , 2ndly it wouldnt be the 1st time (or even 2nd or third) time that a big change at the back effects the WHOLE team, and causes them to sit back a lot more

I sincerely hope Im wrong, but that kind of formation led Utd to drop points before this season

Maybe they will.........
