Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [27th Jan - 1st Feb 2012]

It doesnt matter if Amos is in tonight or even if you are playing with the tea lady at fullback Amos will literaly not have to touch the ball.

We surrender these games before the kick off, 3-0 to united, we will be boring and deflated, So annoying seeing us surrender games to "bigger names" when the likes of Norwich will give it a good go and do them selfs proud

Stoke will be debuting Park Ji-sungs brother tonight Park the-bus

Chelsea:

Cech; Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Luiz, Cole; Meireles, Romeu, Malouda, Sturridge, Torres, Mata

Subs: Turnbull, Ferreira, Cahill, Bertrand, Essien, Piazon, Lukaku

We have got a proper backup winger, he's injured

We have 3 wingers covering 2 positions, that's pretty limited backup. We could do with a youngster or a cheap player who could come in if we get more than one injury. Stick Park in and we just become massively weaker, it's far more difficult to score when only one flank is any good.

Wonder what Tosic is doing... :p

Hell it would be better to have Obertan in than Park, Park doesn't stay out wide and especially when Giggs plays they both try and operate in the same area.

Well come on - its not exactly as though that team is full of 1st time regs , 2ndly it wouldnt be the 1st time (or even 2nd or third) time that a big change at the back effects the WHOLE team, and causes them to sit back a lot more

I sincerely hope Im wrong, but that kind of formation led Utd to drop points before this season

Erm....

Smalling First choice? Quite possibly
Ferdinand First choice? Quite possibly
Evra First choice? Without doubt
Valencia First choice? Without doubt
Carrick First choice? Without doubt
Welbeck First choice? On current form without doubt

So half the team could well be first choice and we're not playing bloody Barcelona we're playing with all due respect Stoke. Dunno what planet you're on if you're over looking the likes of Welbeck and Berbatov from scoring

I genuinely do not understand what kind of squad depth people expect, it's quite mad.

Totally agree

No we've got 4 wingers covering 2 positions and we're down to 2.

well to be fair a dominant central midfield would be nice to start with (even if they were injured, to have them on the books would be helpful) - which has been obviously required for years, rather than leaving it to OAP's (of the professional game) and "prospects" that never quite made it

Also a striker that is believed in and proves every game that he wants to play for Utd , rather than every three or four games he is allowed on the pitch ....

No we've got 4 wingers covering 2 positions and we're down to 2.

Valencia , Nani, Young....Park?

Park who is a CM played as a winger (and isnt really that good at either lol - He has lots of energy and works (sometimes ) in a midfield 5, cant cope with being in the mddle of 4 though - and spends a lot of time buzzing around centrally when played wide lol

We could always recall Bebe. :D:p

Looks like Hernandez in for Welbeck who drops to the bench is the confirmed team so

---------------Amos---------------
Smalling--Ferdinand--Evans--Evra
Valencia--Carrick--Scholes--Park
-------Berbatov----Hernandez-------

Subs: PIG, Rafael, Fabio, Pogba, Giggs, Welbeck, Keane

Park just isn't a winger, he's a central player stuck out wide. How often does he run down the wing and cross? He spends 90% of the game in the centre of the pitch where players like Giggs/Rooney/Berbatov are trying to operate.

Edit FFS Now he's dropped/rested Welbeck, Fergie is killing my FF team :(

LFC team

.................reina
Johnson...Skrtel..Agger...Enrique
..............Spearing
..........Henderson...Adam
Kuyt.............................Bellamy
..............Carroll

according to SSN, although we havn't played 4-3-3 much this year.

EFC: Howard, Neville, Baines, Hibbert, Heitinga, Fellaini, Gibson, Cahill, Donovan, Drenthe, Stracqualursi.

Subs: Mucha, Gueye, Barkley, Vellios, Forshaw, Duffy, Baxter.

lol at our bench... just a load of teenagers near enough apart from Mucha! And **** off Moyes for putting Hibbert at CB!

That's why he's 4th choice :/

And Park a central player? He's played 90% of his games from wide, Beckham wasn't a winger but he certainly wasn't a central player either.

Looks like Hernandez in for Welbeck

Glad to hear this, I'm sure if Hernandez got a good run of games he'd start scoring again, he was doing well before the injury, he's just never got going since, though you have to credit Welbeck for keeping him out too.

Not sure if its been posted but our team for tonight Reina, Johnson, Agger, Skrtel, Enrique, Spearing, Adam, Henderson, Kuyt, Carroll, Bellamy. Subs: Doni, Aurelio, Coates, Downing, Carragher, Shelvey, Kelly.

Bit surprised Bellamy is starting thought might of rested him due to his knees but great that he has.

Kelly deserved to start again imo but with Johnson being fit he wont really get a look in even though he is the better player for me.

He was originally bought (from Eindhoven wasnt it?) as a CM and majority of his International caps have been in that position also)

His early Utd career was also as a CM

I dont think Beckham ever played for Utd's first team as a CM........actually Im wrong he did once because of injuries/ bans I seem to recall, but he was still 10 times the winger Park ever will be lol

Have to agree with you, I much prefer Chicharito to Welbeck (no disputing that the latter has done well for his 1st season so far though), although I dont recall the Berbatov/Chicharito combo working well ever

No he didn't.

PL debut v Everton wide left
Home league debut v Villa wide left
I can go on if you want?

As for the first part Valencia plays CM for Ecuador that's not because he's a CM but because he's a vastly better player than those around him hence why he's played there. Same goes with Park when he played for South Korea

He's not, never will be, never has been a central midfielder.

Please do, because I could have sworn blind majority of his 1st season he played in CM for Utd (which is where he played for Eindhoven.....or at least were the press stated at the time he played)

He hasn't for us (except when we used to play a middle three) but I thought he did for PSV?

It also doesn't really matter where we start him, he still doesn't play out there, he moves infield for large portions of the game. And he just can't beat a man or cross. Even his usual energy hasn't been as noticeable lately.
