Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th April - 2nd May 2012]

Just back from the game. What a bizarre display from Blackburn. I can understand a lack of quality or a lack of tactical acumen but to have no fight at all seems very strange.

Spurs were allowed to knock it around with no attempt at a tackle until the final third.

Interesting they cancel it for him twice but go ahead with the Suarez/Evra one

This isn't an FA Liverpool/United conspiracy. Suarez told Liverpool prior to the game that he would shake Evra's hand hence there was no reason to avoid the handshake, not to mention that the case had been heard and already concluded prior to the game. It was an opportunity to draw a line under it all (that it didn't was irrelevant).

We know that Ferdinand did not wish to shake Terry's hand based on legal advice (as well, perhaps, out of personal choice) so there was a situation that needed to be avoided. There was really nothing to be gained out of it, as the case will still go ahead, so it's a no-brainer.

******* too right mate! Despicable what they've done to the club!

Corrupt, useless ***** one can only hop Kean and anyone associated with him (cough Jerome Anderson) as well as Venkys **** off when we go down and allow us to rebuild to maybe come back one day.

Sigh :(

I hear you mate, totally hear you.

Most depressing thing is it doesn't even look like we'll be rid of the turds in the Championship.

Kean got lucky when they beat Man Utd, the owners saw it as a massive coup

That's probably got something to do with the owners being deluded.

Ok if thats case then we could easily say that Wigan had a lot of luck beating Utd, Arsenal and Newcastle in the past few weeks;)

And no i aint mad before you start spouting that rubbish, just trying to set you straight thats all:p

Oh mad, yes mad! Wigan beat those teams when it mattered at the business end of the season.

Wigan was in worst place for more than half the season, When Blackburn beat Man Utd it was 19th game of season, Wigan stayed at the bottom for more than 10 games. Wigan was going down, Blackburn was riding high at 16th at one point, Venkys kept him on because he beat Man Utd at Old Trafford simple fact, Man City are the only other team to win at OT this season.

Whelan did the right thing keeping Martinez, no point in sacking him if Wigan was going down plus Martniez has had a relegation battle before he knows what to do.

Wigan were. Were.

Also, would a possessive apostrophe kill you?

As for Blackburn, I'm trying to think which players will get picked off by premier league sides when they go down, the only one I can really think of is Hoilett?

Almost everyone is interested in him as his contract is up (and really doesnt want to stay).

MGP would be all right (though a little old) same for Robinson. I would take Martin Olsson, Grant Hanley and N'Zonzi too ;)

that's the spurs i know and love

i enjoyed the game because of how in control we were. not an outstanding performance but it could've been 4 or 5 and the most important thing is we actually looked like we had a clue as opposed to previous 2 or 3 games and got a vital win.

walker's goal was a cracker, great swerve on the ball.

was also refreshing to see rose at lb instead of BAE. he's a better winger than defender and may be the reason that bale was (again) drifting all over.

sandro continues to impress and if modric goes? *meh* he had a decent game but his passing was sub par.

i felt sorry for the blackburn fans having to travel so far to watch your team not really turn up (no shots on goal?!) and wonder where you go from here.

hope we can turn the heat up on arsenal on wednesday now.

my mate has just text me woy for england? darn , does that mean redknapp's staying?

In control, lol it was a training exercise, you didnt even need to do anything, if you was up against a real threat you would have struggled, your first win since 1st of April against Swansea

Hoilett for sure, possibly Robinson, Nzonzi and Olsson.

Yakubu as well, as shown this season can still do a bit. Scoring the goals he has in such a dump team is worthy of another shot at a club in the premiership.

But yeah, other than the above, I can't see anyone knocking the door down put it that way.

i still like robinson. ok for today's first goal i have no idea what he was doing but he's a good keeper, just a shame he's got 4 dumb defenders in front of him

i've heard formica has had some decent performances too

I'd say he's still premiership quality personally. He does make mistakes, more so than your average keeper but he's certainly kept more out than been at fault for this season. I dread to think how many we would have shipped had we had a lesser keeper in, and we've shipped enough as it is!

Interesting, you've just described a large amount of Man Utd's performances this season, performances you continuously moan about :o
