Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th December 2013 - 1st January 2014]

Just got back from the pub after watching city (Hull) beat Fulham. Very pleased with the Tigers performance. It was absolutely first class against a Fulham side who posed no threat whatsoever. Tom Huddlestone: what a player he is. He knows exactly where the ball is, where he wants the ball and where he wants to put the ball. We all sang him happy birthday today and it just seemed inevitable that he would score today.

Once the second goal went in, that was it and the flood gates opened. I think this sort of result has been coming for a while now and is just deserts after the MU game. I think Hull have now put their stamp on the PL now with a bold statement saying that nobody should come to the KC stadium to play for a draw, or take us for granted.

He's cutting his hair, he's cutting his hairrrrr, in the morning, Toms cutting his hair!!

I am really pleased things are looking up for Hull City Tigers fans.

Looks like Palace gave it a right go at the Etihad. We must be even better than I though to have beaten them 3-0 at Selhurst Park.

Hart made some great saves, which is good to see.

He osn't the fastest of players but to say he isn't mobile is a little harsh. I saw him tracking back numerous times today and he isn't shy of work. To be fair to him, he doesnt need to run as even when surrounded by 3 or 4 opposition players he will still not lose the ball and get a great pass or shot away.

He was class today. Danny Murphy was probably right with his comments, I'm still surprised that Spurs let him go, but Spurs never built their team round him like Hull have. He was always a bench player with no real first team place towards the end of his career there.

Technically he's brilliant, both footed, ridiculous power in his shots with no backlift. Shame he isn't mobile, certainly should be playing for Spurs right now though.

I think he just got lazy at Spurs and lost his place.

He's always had a powerful shot, even though he could pass he could never guide his shots very accurately.

Powerful shots mean not much at all. His probably "best" season being 2009/10 in so far as he played 40 odd games, he got 4 goals and 4 assists, he took 100 shots... that's striker level shooting in the prem league, IE very very few midfielders will ever shoot anything close to that. 1 in 25 is pathetically poor, like really really bad.

The year before he had 50 shots... and 2 goals. This season he finally makes it 1 goal in 40 shots.

he's a half decent player, but his thudding the ball around is often pretty predictable, he's a terrible, truly atrocious shot taker yet continually shoots, that is the sign of a bad player. Guys who can't score shouldn't take chances away from other people. He's 27 and hasn't figured out he's one of the worst shots in the league and still takes 10 times more shots a season than he should.

You need more than a half dozen great performances a year to be a great player, you need a half dozen not so great performances, and the rest great, not the other way around.

On his day he can be a great player, so can anyone, it's not his day very often. In that 4 goal 4 assist year, it was actually 2 goals 3 assists in the league, that was 2 goals in 83 shots, against Bolton and Sunderland, with assists against Burnley, Hull and Birmingham.

This season 40 shots, 1 goal, Fulham(who were away so really you could leave the name blank here, he scored.. against no one at all), 1 assist against Cardiff. For someone who is an epic passer(apparently) and has a great shot, he both never scores, shoots to much, gets few to no assists and barely ever shows up, when he does it's almost always against very poor quality opposition. There isn't a lot of information that suggests he's anything other than a below average prem player who occasionally has a commanding performance if the opposition is crap enough.

Well after are performance v city long as we perform at similar level at Chelsea we will hopefully get the points, but rest of our players have to be more ruthless they don't burry enough of the chances. But pretty confident for this afternoon over all :)

Hoping the atmosphere at St James' is good today, we're gonna need all the help we can get. It's been pretty grim the past few games.

Gazzaniga must be embarrassed to lose his place to Davis. Saints really, really need to buy a keeper. Boruc is comfortably their best and he's not exactly solid!
