Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th December 2014 - 1st January 2015]

Man if the rumours are true and Pardew does go then I hope to God we get Pep in ASAP. Nobody else is good enough has a big enough name to this club IMHO. Though if we do get him in and he fails to win anything or get us into the top 4 in his first season then he has to go and we'll move on from there.

No way will Pardew get the heave-ho until his debt to Ashley is cleared.

I don't know, if Cashley can make a few mill compo turfing out Pardew he's so money driven he probably would.

I'm still undecided on Pardew. Over the course of 2014 as s whole he's been horrific, his biggest mistakes were poor subs, bad selection and no plan B. That good run he actually addressed those issues (eventually) but now he is succeeding again he reverted back to arrogant type and picked the same players and changed nothing up. If he can keep the "Pardew knows best" arrogance away he's a good manager, sadly it only happens every so often.

We'll see what happens. /shrug

Would Pardew walk away from that contract though? So far he's shown that he'll put up with anything rather than walk away from it and Palace won't offer him the financial security he's got at Newcastle.

Having read through the first couple of pages on this thread, I can't believe how many people were so quick to write Spurs off today. The first half we weren't particularly fantastic and perhaps could have gone behind, but the second half we certainly upped our game and there were many periods of United being under pressure.

I didn't once think before the game we would struggle against United either, I thought they'd give us a good game but I'd had more cause for optimism today that perhaps I do for the Chelsea game in a few days.

Spurs' form at home is pretty rubbish so not entirely surprising.

chelsea will make us look stupid.

united were all over us first half and we're fortuanate their strikers couldn't hit a barn door.

second half their attackers barely had a sniff and we looked in control. real shame mason couldn't convert his chance but i'm happy with a point.

So you are neither padrew in or out?

Southampton's defence is the best I've seen this season, I thought their GA column might've just been a blip but it's not.
We generally have about 15-20 attempts (something like 80 in our last 4) on goal per game but they shut us down to just 7 even with all the possession we had in their 3rd, they're very well organised.
Still, no damage done, thanks Burnley.

Yep utterly dreadful. I went to exchange presents at my sisters, sadly they had the game on and it ruined what has been a decent xmas :D

He has been lucky so far in that he was a stick to beat Moyes with last year "look how well everton are doing and how bad United are doing". He got lucky that he got a club handed over in very good shape (which he admitted himself) and he's now doing a worse job than at wigan considering the money he has been given. Especially as in comparison moyes got nothing. I have never called for any Everton managers head because the job has always been difficult enough but martinez is an over rated pile of ****. All through the first half you could see it coming the defence had no idea what so ever where to go. Some of the performances this year have been as bad as anything I ever saw under moyes.

I don't care he wasn't up to the united job in the time frame he had, I take him back over this clown any day of the week. He's managed to coach any ability out of that defence, god knows what he's trying to achieve in shape or possession. His post match interviews are as retarded as Moyes were at United.

I wouldn't be that bothered if the problems were not so plain to see and nothing was being done about it. But how blinkered he is, it's mind boggling.

He played Eto'o out wide again last night, he must be having a laugh surely?! And I know he can't do much about the injuries we have to Stones, Jags and Howard but Alcaraz, Distin and Joel are terrible, just a comedy of errors. The fact he didn't address the need for at least another centre back in the summer just says it all about him and his defensive qualities.

His post match interview is laughable. He thinks we were in control until the equalizer and it would have been over had we got a 2nd. It was always coming they were all over us. 4 points from 21. I can understand some of the issues at the back but I have no idea what he's trying to achieve going forward with the positioning of our players and lack of width even when we have wingers. I had no idea why he signed Kone even before his injury, now he's just slower and all he had anyway was pace.

Joel literally looks like someone has put a CB in goal because everyone else is on holiday, but as long as everyone is happy and smiling in training that's the main thing right?

bt sport replayed kane/rooney rugby fun over and over, whilst totally ignoring this....

remember thinking "ouch" when that happened yesterday - Carrick stayed down for a bit but I seem to recall him getting up without any medical attention, certainly looked nasty

if he was facing stambouli a little more it would've been horrific

how the ref didn't give anything whilst stood right ****ing there is beyond me...

And that was with two of our regular defence not playing, one of the replacements making his first PL start.
