Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [28th November - 3rd December 2014]

Kaboul was never a damned fine defender, he was always a joke, he had the odd game and a good run here and there but he hardly ever played brilliantly. There was this fairly common thing where while he missed a season injured and Spurs were even worse defensively it was all put on Kaboul, as in "we're bad because Kaboul is out therefore Kaboul must be great." In reality he never was, absolute liability.

Spurs have been impressive today, starting to look a bit more Southampton like, as if the system is finally getting into the players head, the movement is better. THeir attacking intent is improved, they look far more solid and have pressured well further forward, closed the spaces as a team and generally been very good.

Everton haven't been at their best, Barry in particular just sucks, Distin is certainly not playing at the form he's achieved in the previous years. Replacements for those two in the next transfer window(s) will be top priority you'd think.

Dortmund/Klopp getting further into trouble :( I actually thought they won last weekend as I saw they were 2-0 up to a newly promoted team, didn't realise till they said it during the Arsenal game that the game ended up as a draw, 1-0 down at half time today. A slump they can't seem to get out of now. Only won 3 in 12 in the league so far and losing the 13th.

Neville basically calling it right, Everton just being far too slow, no attempt to play fast at any point in the game. Too much sideways passing and I think also a complete and utter lack of attempts to put a proper cross in. I can't particularly remember any headers from crosses at either end..... I type literally as a cross finally goes in, which leads to a defensive header and corner. They are playing slowly, not getting many people into the middle then not putting the ball in, in general throughout the game.

Handball penalty, Kane one not at all, he slowed down visibly then was pulled Besic, he was absolutely looking for it.

If he got to the ball full speed he'd have been in the box with no defender close, why he slowed I don't know but when stupid commentators(not this time) say along the lines of strikers don't look to go down when they could instead shoot are utterly stupid, there are loads of situations where video shows a striker dives rather than take the shot, it happens constantly, that commentators ignore years of it happening and suggest a striker would never dive rather than shoot does my head in, one of the most irritating things they come up with.

Kane was looking for a penalty there before he even got in the box, strange as he played well all game and deserved a goal/looked like he had confidence. Just run in and shoot you ****.

In 2011-12 he was our best defender and after about 10 games of 2013 we had the second best defensive record in Europe with Kaboul in the team.

Our defence normally looks shambolic because they have not really had the cover from midfield and the defence was never settled because the players were always swapped.
