Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th December 2012 - 2nd January 2013]

Away at Stoke, we're going to loose, curse of players that weren't all that good for us scoring against us (Jone this week, though Baird did seem to want to help us out yesterday).

We also have the biggest goal keeping problem of the league of prem of just not having a fit or competent keeper :(

You going to make the journey up there? Not been to the Britannia before, not sure I like the idea of going!

I've got a 7 hour round trip to Shrewsbury tomorrow, but the old man might cancel which means AFC Wimbledon v Oxford instead :(

I'm looking forward to the game on NYD. We've got the best form in the country at the moment (I think) and Bournemouth haven't lost since Eddie Howe took over again. Last NYE game we came back from 3-0 at half time to nick a draw in injury time, so I reckon this will be just as dramatic!? :D

I wonder if Evans will be rested , with Smalling in his place, otherwise I think the above will be more like it, with majority of 1st choice XI being rested for FA Cup game vs West Ham in early Jan.

Possibly even Evra rested again, although thats more unlikely

Yea forgot about Buttner. He should start against West Brom. Leave Evra on the bench. If Fergie is going to rotate then do it properly.

Hopefully a easy win. But doubt it though.

Hell yeah!!! My first game as a Saints fan was Stoke away in 2007 (was stupidly hung over for a 2-1 loss after a friends 18th birthday and sitting on a bus humming of whiskey is a funny memory) have to recreate that, minus the whiskey. Plus it was £12 return on the train and £25 for the ticket, pretty good value in the champ let alone in the prem this year :)

Ah Shrewsbury is on the list on grounds I want to visit! Been past it so many times (family has lived near there for about 10 years), plus they haven't been looking great this season since getting promoted.

Your new years game sounds great fun! It'll be close what ever happens. Sounds miles better than a tv game at home to Arsenal, another game we should loose badly :(

Against Southampton, we should to all extents and purposes give them a battering but again with our lack of consistency, i wouldnt be surprised if we end up drawing or losing:p

Lol we will loose that, Ghervenio will score a hattrick, make DM froth at the mouth in anger of how such a bad player can look so good against just one team. It'll be grim for us (unless we announce 9am before the game we have signed a new keeper, but even then it'll be a mess).

Haha - hungover away days are always an ordeal. Never been to Shrewsbury either, fingers crossed. Good luck tomorrow... hopefully your keeper (whichever one that plays) will play to at least a Championship standard! :p

At 18 this was quite the ordeal :p This year should be more drunk during the day...

We can only hope a keeper turns up that is at champ standard and we keep the ball away from them :D

Hope Shrewsbury comes off! We had an fa cup first round game against them a few years ago that very nearly became a midweek replay up there, Lallana and Connelly ruined that dream :(

Hmmm playing against Newcastle at home should mean we get a win but with our consistency or lack of it, i wouldnt be surprised if we draw or lose:p. Thankfully Newcastle arent doing so well themselves so maybe we can get a win out of it.

In all honesty, we should bag 6 pts from these 2 upcoming games...

You shouldnt struggle against us.

If out strikers turn up we'll lose 3-2 or something if not it will be comfortable as we cannot defend this year, plus Krul looks a little out of form recently.

Krul is fine tbh but yes we can not defend at all!!!!

Hope douglas is on route in Jan. Watching Williamson is painful. 6 month left on his contract. Would have to offer a good wage tho.

Debouchy still says he is interested but wont try and force a move

Hope marv starts

Marvellous has to start (I don't think he's marvellous personally, hes good but it's just that what my granda calls him as he can't pronounce his name :D) as he has been in form.

Williamson is championship at best, he's fourth choice for the odd cup game, not premier quality at all. Good news is Williamson is suspended today.

Sunderland game should be interesting if not a good game, can't cal this one.

Yup. Sad times :(

Hopefully put one in before second half though. Nice to see Dawson playing though, that guy is solid.
