Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th December 2012 - 2nd January 2013]

Out of interest.

Would you guys rather discuss stuff about your team with someone who passionately hates them, or passionately loves them?

I had a more reasoned discussion in the pub last night with 3 Mackem season ticket holders than I could with a newcastle fan who is a season ticket holder. He won't accept we are poor and are playing bad all he parrots is "you have to get behind the lads!!!" /facepalm.

You've certainly spent more than us in the last 5 years or so, in fact Sky ran a stat the other week that showed we were 5th in the money spent on players table behind Chelsea, City, Liverpool & Spurs

we have spent a lot on a lot of crap. bentley for example (though he's still our highest transfer at circa £18m) but our wage bill is way lower than uniteds, chelseas, arsenals, and of course city. pretty sure it's lower than liverpools too. this needs to be taken into account.

Everton: Howard, Jagielka, Baines, Heitinga, Distin, Naismith, Pienaar, Hitzlsperger, Osman, Jelavic, Anichebe

Hmmm :/

Chelsea:

Cech; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Cahill, Cole; D Luiz, Lampard(c); Ramires, Mata, Hazard; Torres

Subs: Turnbull, Ferreira, Ake, Oscar, Marin, Piazon, Moses

Thing is he's playing well where he wants to play, where he hasn't had the chance to play before so he could well improve/prove himself a lot now.

It could also be said that despite his hatrick (of which 3rd goal was really the only remarkable one, but nothing wrong with tap-ins etc in general), he missed some reasonably easy chances/ had a number of bad touches in and around the area too.

It also has to be said that Newcastle looked leggy for the last 20 minutes or so which helped him / Arsenal no end (at which point it was 3-3 or there abouts)

Walcott did well, but its circumstance as much as anything which allowed his hatrick rather than outright skill.

Used to work with a guy that would never say anything other than "We're Man Utd aren't we, got no problems". He said the same just before the City game last season, and wasn't back in work for a while. I also lived with a guy that couldn't understand why England we're beating the likes of Croatia/Poland/Ukraine/Sweden 9/10-0, that was annoying.

Rodgers hasn't travelled with the Liverpool team.

....because he, another coach and Brad Jones have got some kind of virus and have been told to keep away from the rest of the squad.

It was almost as if you were trying to be mischievous there Azza :p

Oh I agree we were completely useless, our defence was like tumbling clowns for the third goal. I do think he deserves a decent run in the middle and I really think he could prove good there given time, he always has seemed a decent finisher.

Sounds similar to the bloke I was talking too, as I said had a more reasonable discussion with the Sunderland fans who after they got their lol's out the way would happily chat football and what is right wrong. He just sits there in denial saying "it will be all right" and ignoring the evidence before his eyes :p
