Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th December 2012 - 2nd January 2013]

Not interested in the bait...

He dived, he was correctly booked, didn't know it was a talking point to be honest :o.

Defoe was getting in on the action too! ;).

I actually enjoyed bits of the game I watched, but it was interrupted by unforeseen circumstances.

the only thing hilarious about so called 'dive' was the fact he got booked for it.

No, I support booking players for cheating :).

Bale is clearly a good player whom can hopefully improve, hopefully get a move to a bigger club and progress as a footballer. That's not a diss at Tottenham, I think he should be playing more European football and Tottenham can not offer him that, I'd like to see him move abroad too!. He just needs to be more consistent (I think his final ball is actually very good more often than not) and he needs to stop the silly diving.

Why can't Spurs who sit 3rd and finished 4th last seaon (top 5th or 4th for about the last 4 seasons) not offer him European football?

I'm not convinced that Tottenham will finish in a top four spot this season; that's not to say I wouldn't like to see it, I quite like Tottenham and very much enjoy watching them play (when they play well that is) they're very dynamic and pacey going forward.

Tottenham just don't have much European pedigree, He could move to a more established European side and really develop his game.

i'm not saying he's been innocent everytime but today i felt was harsh. not a penalty but there was definite contact.

the other harsh one which springs to mind, was the first time we played villa this season and he dived as he was heading for a collision course with the villa keeper.

i'd dive to avoid getting clattered by a player too but there's a difference between diving to gain advantage and diving to avoid getting hurt.

it is a shame he has now been tarnished with this brush as he's going through a great proffessional and personal period in his life. the boo'ing of him today was very harsh.

Urm there was contact but not the sort of contact that has a player on the floor from a sprint... Bale was rightly booked for making a meal out of that.

On the other hand Defoe was a bit hard done by from the ref, couple of trips (then a dive him self) then some pushes when Sunderland saw the ref hated him. Bit of a silly game really.

Either way I would love to see what would happen if Lambert was at one of the top clubs, half the country would be up in arms every week as a striker is forced to give piggy backs to every CB in the league instead of given protection by the ref....

spurs are now winning games where not too long ago, we'd have come away with nothing. today was an example of that.

the only teams i would not fancy us winning against now are arsenal, chelsea, city and man u.

we have had blips, wigan for example. we've also thrown points away by conceding late but we're progressing, that's for sure.

What have half those lot got to do with stopping Bale playing in Europe exactly?

What the bloody hell are you on about?

Those clubs have more European Pedigree than Tottenham, which is what you asked 'who has more pedigree' and they would (for the most part) offer him stable and consistent European football, that's not to say they would all be an improvement on Tottenham, but some would be big step ups.

You've just named four very good teams that could be in those top four spots though, so that's basically what I've been saying, Tottenham are up against very tough opposition for a top four spot.

I like Tottenham (as I've said) and I like the way they play football (as I've said) but I'm not convinced they will finish in a top four spot (as I've said) but that's not to say I don't want them to finish there (as I've said) I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to say.
