Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th December 2012 - 2nd January 2013]

if this is a win for chelsea then its all down to lampard because every other player has looked gash today. hazard was awful and shouldnt have come out for the 2nd half

If his knee doesn't implode/he doesn't perform as he did for Newcastle when Cissé rocked up.

It would be interesting to know just how bad his knee is. It's been well known for a while that he's available on the cheap but nobody has touched him - it's surely not a coincidence.

I don't think he's been injured once for us, it's a strange one a d would love to know the whole story.

From what I can make of it, it's not something that'll keep him out for the odd game now and again but that his knee could go pop at any minute and he'll be finished.

I do wonder how many people in here talking about Lampard were happily saying him and the "old guard" should be shown the door multiple other times in the past 2-3 years, and talking about how past it he is whenever he has a poor performance.

Lampard is the single most consistent, highest scoring midfielder of all time in the premier league, he is excellent defensively when asked to do that role and exceptional going forwards. Any club that even mentions the idea of getting rid of him is utterly stupid, this is a guy you want to play whatever games he can for you, stay on after and coach first team and younger players how the hell you play football.

He's the best English player we've had for god knows how long, and the idea that for the past decade we've basically misused him for England to fit Gerrard into the team is beyond embarrassing.

I've always loved Scholes as a central midfielder, but Lampard is every bit as good a passer, FAR better defensively and much more effective infront of goal.
