Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th December 2017 - 4th January 2018]

It's not a pen but a slight defence of the ref is that from the reverse angle it might look like he's moved his arm to the ball.

What a **** game, more energy in the last 5 than the whole game. Howler from Mike Dean but we shouldn't be leaving it in the hands of the ref, they're bottom of the league!

We need the video refs ASAP to sort this **** out.

Fed up of discussions going against us.

Won’t be happening any time soon;). As for decisions going against us?? To be fair we have had a few decisions go for us so it all works out in the end.

Penalty call or not, this Arsenal team is one depressing team to watch. Entirely devoid of any ideas going forward then defensively we are a ******* absolute joke. We score then concede, can’t even remember the last time we kept a clean sheet :/.

I still think there’s way more decisions against us.

So no it don’t balance out.

Its almost asif Arsenal played West Brom off the pitch the way some are going on. They were bloody awful against the worst team in the league, the ref shouldnt even come into it. The constant sideways passing and clueless football was a chore to watch.

It was an awful decision but Arsenal were dire.

Maybe you are right, ive stopped watching Arsenal a long time ago as it is. Now and again I’ll watch a game but it’s very rare I do.

It’s games like this that made me stop watching Arsenal. The utter dross we continue to churn out is depressing. No wonder Ozil and Sanchez want out.

I honestly don't get posts like this. Yes, Arsenal didn't play well however had it not been for a terrible decision they would have won. It was a really poor decision and no matter how poorly Arsenal played, that doesn't change that fact.

Bad decision, but another horrible performance. I'm no fan of Walcott and Welbeck, but over a run down, worn out and clueless Iwobi who needs to not be starting the refusal to use either player when Wenger made a huge effort to give both stupid money to come or continue playing for us. Elneny/Coquelin not being used, all our quality youngsters making those killing sub appearances to prove themselves... oh wait, haven't seen that in years. 35mil on Xhaka, incredibly underwhelming central mid.

Arsenal have needed a massive clear out and massive buying of new talent, not necessarily expensive but some cheaper players to fill out the squad for sure. Promising youngsters looking to show their stuff, our squad depth is pathetic. Bellerin is becoming an actively bad player over the past year, don't have a single competent defensive mid, whole defence is mistake prone. Cech is, well he needs replacing I think at best, or get Cech to do his coaching badges then bring him in as a goalkeeping coach as our current guy doesn't seem good enough. Chesney leaves and does great to the point Juve picked him up and is playing very well while Buffon's injured.

WHole coaching staff needs replacing, starting with Wenger. Squad clear out and start of a squad rebuild under a competent manager.

I think there are times that they are too close to call, but I also think the league has let Zaha away with one fairly obvious one already this season that should have been punished and more importantly on replay Sterling did nothing. At least on the other one the keeper was coming across and probably would have clipped Zaha at least a little anyway but that time Zaha was well on his way down and forced the contact. Here Sterling made no real movement with any part of his body, he was just alongside Zaha, there was nothing at all to cause him to go down except that he chose to.

I hope they get him because I both believe he deserves it and he's gotten away with at least one, maybe two already, the league needs to make a statement.

I understand he has a reputation, but I feel this season he's been better - Rarely it's been a bad call in my opinion. And really they need to be judging it on a call by call basis - And in this instance, my view remains that it isn't punishable.

Gona bet on Palace to win the league next season, seen as the unbeatable Man City couldn't beat them. :p

I like your style :p To be totally honest, if we keep up with our current performance next season, I feel we could definitely be top 10 for sure! We've got the talent, we just needed some decent direction (I do wonder how long Woy will stay with us though, considering his age).

With the Arsenal game - That was never a penalty in a million years. And the fact that he gave Cech a yellow for asking him about it after the match is ridiculous. I think the ref is going to feel a fool after reviewing this match. Should have been an Arsenal win 1-0.

Young got himself a 3 game ban for the elbow, at least one good call from them.

I believe they'll say they can't do anything about Puncheon because he got a yellow card for his tackle, I still hate that, terrible decisions should be able to be overturned, he deserved a straight red and a ban for it.

Technically speaking I think they got rid of that rule about not being able to act on incidents that were seen but ever since then they've never actually acted on one either.

edit: although a quick google tells me that may only apply to violent conduct.

I wouldn't like to second guess the FA because so far they've been incredibly inconsistent with their decisions but that was a dive and no way has Zaha got any better. I think I commented on it during the Arsenal game the other night - you only have to get within 5 yards of Zaha for him to throw himself to the ground and expect a free-kick.

We'll have to see - but I will be very surprised if they give him a ban.
