Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [29th October - 2nd November 2011]

I hope they're this bad when we play them, they've been absolutely awful. The only thing they've done right was Bartons first ball in. They look so disjointed going forward, poor passing, no outlet, and Tarrabt looks ****.

Yeah they hardly created any chances again Chelsea with a two man advantage and were actually lucky to even win that match in the end.

Not seen them create a decent chance against Spurs, just can't see where the goals are going to come from at the moment. Norwich and Swansea both look much better teams this season.

Let's be honest, their team is absolute **** on paper for a Premiership team, they have no one good to bring on either. How is Derry still in the Prem? A lot of other players for that matter..

Shame Newcastle caught them when they were fresh and full of confidence that the new signings they brought in. Wright Phillips was good that game, as was Barton and Tarabaat since then they have all been average at best.

Well they proved me wrong and got a goal from a corner but they still don't seem to be creating anything from open play and if it wasn't for Paddy Kenny the score would be about 6-1 by now.

Can we have Crouch back please?

Ade has had his 4 game honeymoon period, couldn't hit a barn door... much more like the player I remember at Arsenal. £180k a week? please...

He's worth it for his movement and interplay alone, he's been quality for you, so he misses a few opportunities, the modern day attacking line doesnt require a shearer and spurs certainly dont with vdr bale and modric around

I really wish people wouldn't harp on about modern footballer this and modern footballer that.

A footballer, since time began is best when they positively help the team for the majority of their time on the pitch.

I can't stand Ade in general, at Arsenal he got goals but was lazy as crap and did nothing to help hold up the ball. For Spurs, today he's been great, attacks have gone through, involved him, he's won the ball passed it well, missed a chance or two, so what.

Spurs have, sad to say, played some truly excellent passing football today, with some great moves and that 3rd goal was a beaut.

Parker has made so many good tackles, and put himself in the way so many times, absolutely ridiculous that Arsenal weren't in for him. Even if he has only got a few years left, I'd prefer Pong and **** to learn from Parker than to learn from Song ffs.

I said modern attacking line, wingers arnt classical beckhams anymore, they come and interchange with the striker. adebayor has interchanged extremely well and as you saw who the goal scorers are, just like at barcelona who dont have a dedicated out and out hitman, they just happen to have the most devestating forward line because they all chip in and ok nterchange, villa is their hitman yet he doesnt score that many...

He said he wasnt worth the money right now, when I say he is if he is adding to the performance like he has today.

Love him hate him, when he plays like this id be well happy, its keeping him happy, which is another story.

OT: Have Sky always been this obsessed with 'derbys'? Everything is a bloody derby! London derby, midlands derby, northwest derby, Manchester derby, promoted teams derby, teams beginning with the letter S derby.. It's mad!

I suppose a City fan is well qualified to spot someone obsessed with derby matches. :p

spurs really looked a force today, could've put 5 or 6 past them. maybe modric is beginning to think he is at the right club

You mean, like Fulham? QPR aren't very good, Spurs looked good but got a lot of space for their passing.

Spurs haven't been very consistent yet this/last season, really that's the biggest difference between well the top 3 last year, and Spurs/Pool and Arsenal.

The constant attacking and support, pretty much any time a ball got pinged in to anyone standing off a CB they could just sweep it out wide, in behind the defensive line and a winger/fullback would run on to it. The movement was good, the willingness to pass forwards in those situations was very good. One of the biggest issues in the league is people unwilling to make an attacking pass rather than a simple high percentage pass. It worked very well but, against a better team, with less players flinging themselves forward Spurs tend to not be as fluid going forwards.

Frankly it is performances like that which make me think Spurs are by far the most likely to get 4th. Arsenal may have won, and against Chelsea and away, and that's pretty amazing. But how many goals did we score like Spurs today, created through purely our own attacking and not gifted goals from massive mistakes. We won't get gifted those goals against most teams in the league, Spurs if they play like that against any team will create good chances and score goals. Arsenal play like they did against Chelsea against anyone(except Bolton :p ) and we'll lose, its that simple.

how is that not consistent?

remember, our losses were against the two from manchester, before we had parker and adebayor, who have given us what we were missing and we were also a week off the pace as our opening game was cancelled.

Am I right in thinking we were missing King in both those games as well. He makes such a difference to our defence, makes the defenders around him play better. But City would have beat most teams that day, and going to Utd with a bare bones team is never good, but since then we have been very good.
