3rd season syndrome again for mourinho
It's too easy to argue against 3rd season syndrome so people shouldn't call it that. AT Chelsea his third year was great till drawing the final five games and going from 1st and third title in a row to letting Utd nab it. His start in the 4th season was as turgid as this crap they are producing and they became a lot worse.
It's about Mourinho, his extremely short term tactics, how defensive minded a side is when he takes over determining how long it takes to ruin the offence completely, how many offensive in form players he buys to offset the rubbish football he produces.
Players don't change overnight with the first training session of a manager, they take years to change how they play. 1 months of purely defensive rubbish training doesn't ruin a decade of top notch attacking training. Chelsea were uber offensive when he took over first time, they dropped off in the third year and were more and more defensive the entire time he was there. At some point the offence just stopped working and he doesn't have the tools to do anything about it so he left.
This Chelsea was FAR more defensive when he took over, the first year was meh football, last year the football was dramatically improved by bringing in Fabregas and Costa, after half a year under Mourinho those two looked half as good as the start of the season and no where near as good today either. The football they produced for half of last year was abysmal but they had that mentality and lead to hang on to, way too big a lead thanks to rubbish first half of City/Arsenal/Utd seasons.
This time the second season Chelsea were already showing very bad signs under Mourinho and this third season is beyond a joke.
At Real he was almost fired at the end of the first year for playing such defensive football and as such he pushed people forward in the 2nd/3rd year, but even so the link up play of the front three was still massively reduced in quality at Real. They became a team of individuals upfront rather than a team.
