Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [2nd - 5th March 2012]

This is just wrong

Like Liverpool, City produce a lot of chances in every match, but havent been scoring that much recently.

They have had a GD over Utd of around +10 since December (changing slightly every weekend, but it hasnt changed that much for 2 months or more)

I would actually suggest Utd make the most of their chances, and have a better conversion rate - compared to City (from the sheer amount they miss more than anything).

Look at yesterday's result (yes Bolton's gk did very well also) City (only) won against Bolton 2 -0 at the Etihad, they will have MUCH more difficult games coming up before the end of the season

City have been getting the job done with relative ease recently and we have not. Don't forget that Norwich performance last week.

We're not playing well but we've had a fabulous run of results against the top sides. Firmly in the driving seat now I think.

I certainly hope so.

Needs more Berbatov. :(

Epic troll from Lee Cattermole today.

-Get a yellow after 40 seconds
-Everyone bets on him to get sent off
-Keep your head down, play the whole game, and then get sent off after the final whistle

getting the job done is not "rampant" as your quote just above says - thats all I was commenting on - I never said Utd have been doing anything other than "getting it done" , I would even add "Just" to that, but Utd have also had 4 much more difficult games than City have recently

*facepalm Giggs*

After all the years he served your club and been a brilliant player, you complain when he gives the ball away when you had already won the game?

If I was a United fan I find it hilarious that despite United playing averagely at best, Spurs could only score when the goal was almost handed on a plate to them.

One advantage United have going into the title race is that they know how to win, they can play not very well and yet still get all 3 points, something that City aren't as good at(Although the fact they have played very well almost the entire season makes up for it..)

Fair enough, perhaps rampant was being too complimentary.

De Gea was excellent again today though, he seems to be really on the up now.

It could also be the Spurs goal today that hands City the title (on GD) , on such small margins titles are decided

One point blank save by De Gea today was incredible, but he has always been a good shot stopper, its crosses and corners he needs experience in handling

Surely if United lose the title on GD, they'll look back to the 6-1 thrashing they got from City as the reason for that rather than a small mistake against Spurs...

Conceding those 3 goals in ET of that game is going to be more costly than Giggs mistake today if it does go down to GD(Remember each of those goals counts for 2 so that game gave City a 10 goal advantage over United)

Agreed, United 3-1 winners. Shame I would have liked a stronger team from Spurs to make a real game of it. :(

Mind you we are at that stage of the season where Rooney is due a broken balsa wood toe. :D

Oh well one out of two predictions correct :D

Uniteds league to lose now, such an easy run of 8 games that should all be wins. They normally kick on now and I really don't see City winning anything like the 6 of their next 8.

Good day of football.

ManU and Fulham games were great. Derby was ok plenty of blood and thunder and excitement if a little poor quality wise.

Noticed again though today, ESPN is **** compared to sky. Sound is poor, commentary is awful and just feels very amateur.

huh City are hardly a bad team, if anything they should kick on and win them all, only have the Uefa cup to distract same with Man U, if Man Utd can do well with a tough few games, why cant Man City, they should be able to turn over Chelsea and Arsenal and the big game is 30th April

I think people's point is that United have 'been here' many, many times before and this is relatively new ground to City.

United have also just gotten through a run of games against 'top four/five' sides without dropping points and have only City to face nearer the end of the season while City have Chelsea and Arsenal still between them and the end of the season too.

Well no idea how we won that one, until the third went in and Spurs basically gave up we were about as rubbish as we've been in any game this season and in the end it was just clinical finishing that proved the difference (much like yesterdays Liverpool/Arsenal game)

There was a lot of talk on Sky about how Spurs dominated Scholes & Carrick but in truth it was the front 4 players Rooney, Welbeck, Young & Nani just being rubbish when they got the ball, Scholes & Carrick's pass completion was actually pretty good but it was just ahead of them where it was all falling down (Rooney & Nani being particularly bad)

Thought I should probably mention Young as I've given him a lot of stick and while I still think he was pretty rubbish today like for England in midweek when he was also rubbish you've got to give the lad credit he's capable of some very tidy finishes however bad his overall game has been. Hopefully these goals will kick him into some form

Oh and for those Spurs fans who were calling King the best defender in the league earlier in the season, Rio showed today that he's still the better of the two even minus that burst of pace he's lost

I had to smile when the commentator said that Ferdinand could have joined Spurs last season...... Partnered with King, that would be a very reliable defense! :p

In that they'd very seldom actually end up playing together? :p

Was very impressed with Fulham earlier as well although Wolves are probably now tied with Aston Villa for the prize of the worst team I've seen this season. Dembele especially was excellent again, everytime I see him I'm impressed, should have been MOTM. Will be interesting to see if Fulham can hang on to him....

Indeed, they could take it in turns to play

I can also confirm that Bolton are in the Premier League;) ......Anyone see Owen Coyles interview after the City game yesterday? He made it sound like they were the better team:eek:
