Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [3 - 5th November 2012]

We are really gonna struggle to get into a Champions League spot this season, we looked rubbish against Norwich, rubbish against Stoke, rubbish against Sunderland, rubbish against United, shipped a load of goals against Reading in the cup and got hammered at home by Schalke... Our only decent performance in the league has been against Southampton who were utterly crap against everyone else up to that point as well.

Decent performance overall against a team that can be a threat, but weren't for the most part.

Evans and Ferdinand looked better than they have previously and our attack broke down the Arsenal defence with ease; we should have scored 4 or 5 at least.

I'd rather see Anderson starting over Cleverley in future too, I think he's got more about him.

Good to see RvP score as well, really shook up Arsenal very badly.

Anderson played well when he came on, United totally bossed that game and could easily have won by a higher margin.

The easiest 3 points United will probably get this season.

Without doubt, worrying for Arsenal when Stoke and Fulham gave us harder games at home than them :o

Apart from the back 4 thought everyone else was crap today, Carrick's passing was shocking, Valencia continued in his quest to complete the most backwards passes in a game, Young was just typical Young (so totally pointless) and although he was better second half Rooney let the easiness of the game creep into his own performance and ended up being very average himself. Thought Cleverley did ok but Fergie did the right thing taking him of with Dean in the mood he was.

Oh well top of the league

Pretty much. Bar losing RVP we have a better squad than last year, but they're playing worse. The teams put out are unbalanced, there's no cohesion, they look devoid of confidence... doesn't really inspire any confidence going forward.

It seems like a lifetime ago we used to give United a game, these days it's basically 3 points to them unless they've already wrapped up the league.

The game was pretty much a non event.

Very predictable.

Arsenal need to stop selling thier stars, there is only so much Wenger can do.

Pretty much, we have the players to do well, Podolski is a good striker and I don't know why we won't start him up front and put a winger either side of him, he's quick, strong and a decent finisher. I don't see the sense in starting like we did today, with a striker on the left wing, a target man up top and a central midfielder on the other wing, especially when we had two wingers on the bench. I would have liked to have seen Chamakh get another chance, he did really well in midweek, Wenger, or whoever is picking the team and tactics has just left me utterly confused and frustrated.

It's impossible to keep a player when:
a) several clubs above you will pay them MUCH more
b) several clubs above you are winning things, you're not

The only players who are loyal to their clubs are either
a) at top ones who win things all the time
b) mental/not good enough to go anywhere better anyway

Wenger chooses the teams and his selections this season have been bizarre.

Id love us to keep our star players but when players want to win trophies and they arent at a team that seemingly is going backwards every yr then its no huge surprise our 'stars' want to jump ship.

There is a lot Wenger could do but he steadfastly refuses to do so, whether thats him or the board is hard to say but things need to change soon. But when your manager says that this season our main aim is to get 4th place and not really compete for trophies or the title...then that says it all really.

As Kill said, Wengers team selections are mind boggling at the best of times and they are getting slowly worse and worse.

What im not looking forward to is our next CL game against Schalke, they tore us apart a week back and probably will do the same next week as we play at their home. Instead of getting better we are getting worse and worse. We have a decent squad this yr especially with Pod, Giroud and Carzola but something is lacking hugely in our squad at the moment. Wont be long before theres a revolt in the squad lol.

1-0 Fulham, Ruiz with a freekick, Howard tips it onto the post with his flappy hands then hits Howard and goes in, so an OG.

Neville gave away the freekick for a tackle on Berbatov, proper helmet that guy is!
