Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th - 31st August 2014]

Di Maria's done well so far considering it's his first game in a United shirt, United look suspect at the back though. They look worse than Liverpool's defense did last season.

I hope LVG can get more out of him than we've seen so far. He's had his moments but he's nothing like he was for Chelsea

Blackett really isn't fine. He sees his man coming in and loses him a second later. He has played most of our **** long balls up to no one.

Midway through the first half and Manchester United have looked stronger by the minute. They are bossing the ball now after a very dodgy opening 10 minutes or so.

Am I watching the same game?

United fans can't comment on anything now. Or apparently sign any good players because they then immediately become crap, overpriced or average.

I was taking the mickey, unfortunately United fans seem a little precious at the moment, unsure why.

p.s there's life outside these forums, just because it doesn't happen on here etc.

How is Valencia a professional footballer? He's awful, he's just quick, nothing else in his locker.

How Fergie actively gave him starts over other players I don't know, I can accept a player being pushed to right back in game due to injuries but one half of Valencia there and it was clearly something that should literally never happen again... then he gets started there IIRC in a champions league final where he was abysmal. Then Moyes did the same things, using him and then at right back some times.

Considering the lack of cover at right back in terms of reliably fit players(which Jones/smalling are not) how right back wasn't also done very early in the window I don't know.

Again you might not be able to get the best player ever but, even with Blind as a choice there, buy a cheap £3mil right back from a championship side if you have to, would still be a huge step up on having to revert back to Valencia.

Hes not even quick. One of the requirement of being quick is that you run and Valencia doesn't like to do that these days.

I just counted 5 Burnley players around the man with the ball and only 2 United players. That means that there must be loads of our players free and we still can't find the space between the lines.
