Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th April - 2nd May 2016]

For all the argument over Leicester going out and competing with the big boys and spending mega millions, I really hope they don't. Stick to your fine Leicester, keep a tight knit squad and the good spirit. Filling the squad with mercanaries will destroy them more surely than tweaking and adding to a title winning squad.

They had a tight knit team because they avoided injuries. They will have the fun of CL next year so will have to increase in size. Be surprised if they keep their main stars, be good if they kept together but I would be surprised.

Loved listening to the beeb interviewing kids in Leicester today. "Have you always supported them?"

"No last year I supported Chelsea" and "I used to be a ManU fan but.."

Were two of my fav answers. Gotta love kids brutal honesty.

Also loved the guy on the radio saying he told his son that one day they would be champions and it actually happened, a pipe dream that he just fed his son but didn't expect in his wildest dreams. It still just doesn't seem real. It's like a column from 'striker' or Roy of the Rovers.

I don't think it will matter if they do stay together. The CL and adding to that team will be the ruining of them. Just as we have seen with other teams doing well (not this well) prior to CL or Europe. The extra strain cripple clubs without the best resources.

Not that I'd care as a Leicester fan. I'd happily finish in the bottom 6 after seeing those sort of dreams come true.

Dier, Walker (and Rose) weren't likely to get retrospective bans. Clattenburg saw and dealt with their challenges during the game, even if he did get it totally wrong.

Not sure how Lamela's got away with standing on Fabregas' hand. Maybe the FA have realised Fabregas is a snidey **** and deserved it.

Dembele wasn't going to get away with that, will that be 3 games as well, or more?

More it seems:

Meanwhile, Mousa Dembélé has been charged for an alleged act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video during the same game.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was involved in an incident with Chelsea’s Diego Costa near the end of the first half.

Further, it is alleged the player’s behaviour constituted violent conduct in circumstances where the standard punishment of three matches that would otherwise apply is clearly insufficient

Attempt to gouge someone's eye out, pretty **** thing to do as you could blind someone. Had he done, surely a case for being banned permanently for ruining someone's career?

Had he inflicted injury then he could have been in massive trouble but I'd be surprised if it were much more than 5-6 games.

That said, Suarez got 10 games for nibbling on Ivanovic's arm and I'd say that eye gouging was a more serious crime so who knows.

Can't see any mention of Ancelotti having to haul Fabregas back in that article. Nor is there any evidence to support the accusations which is why it's not getting mentioned or resulted in a charge like Demeble's eye gouge incident.

yeh i mean it's easy to miss as it's only the 2nd paragraph

The Telegraph can also reveal that Chelsea’s interim manager Guus Hiddink not only dragged Fabregas off the pitch in an attempt to defuse the situation, but also angrily laid into one of his own members of staff who had joined in the tunnel bust up.
