Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

Rubbish game. I think Fergie needs to look at using Lindegaard more.

Obviously he won't as he has paid £18 million for De Gea.

The game went really flat after we equalised, I have no idea why Fergie didn't make another change then as the game was crying out for it. The Anderson switch at half time was a good call but I'm getting frustrated with his second half subs in general.

wow - didn't see that coming.

After Southampton lost yesterday, I'm hoping that Derby can keep the score at 2-1 over West Ham. Then Boro need a home win to go level on points with Soutampton at the top.

The thing is, if we'd won then Fergie would have got praised as a tactical genius for that half time switch when really he was just changing the lineup to what it should have been to start with, defenders in defence, midfielders in midfield and wingers on the wing. I swear he does it on purpose.

Is Rooney injured by the way? Was surprised he wasn't even on the bench?

Fergie really needs to choose a keeper and stick to it. De Gea is such a great prospect but he needs to be playing in every game to get his consistency. Either play Lindegaard for this season or allow De Gea to play in every game. This is not doing any of them any good.

Poor first half, much better second and after getting level the keeper goes and pulls a howler. Once again though after getting level the whole tempo of the team dropped instead of pushing for the winner almost inviting them to score again.

The difference between us and City (injuries ignored) are that we look a team likely to drop points, City don't (even the West Brom game they should have won)

Injuries are playing a part though;

Smalling--Ferdinand--Vidic--Fabio
Young--Fletcher--Cleverley--Giggs
-----------Rooney--Owen-----------

That's a whole other team that could have played today and it would have been better than the team that actually played :(

Any team would be better without De Gae but no goalkeeper?

Edit: Is it too early to start calling him David de James?

De Gea needs shooting, Blackburn had only 40% of the possession, only 5 shots all match, were incredibly out of form and were under immense pressure at old trafford

There is no way they should have won and that last goal was just embarrassing

Well the point was the players we have injured, we don't currently have an injured keeper. Someone needs to kick De Gea up the arse though so maybe he'll be out now for a few weeks with a bruised backside :o

I need a new crystal ball. :(

I hate to be 'this guy' but I really can't like De Gea.

Yes, he seems a 'decent' goalkeeper but that's all. He looks absolutely terrified nearly all of the time and struggles with 90% of the jobs he has to do. He can stop shots fairly well, but he can't catch the ball effectively, he seems weak and tries to call a foul on every single set play where he may be challenged even a little bit.

Lindegaard just seems a more solid option, he's confident and a good all-rounder. In fact he doesn't seem to really struggle at doing anything...

When Berbatov got his first, I thought the inevitable would happen... but lol!

Haven't Blackburn been having a ~injury crisis~, too? It's not as though they were full strength, with Manyoo the only team with players out.

indeed, we have 1 keeper, 4 defenders 2 midfield injuries. Also salgado who wont be played or he will get a new contract.

When the joint leader's in a league leave in 3 goals at home against the bottom team it all can't be the keepers fault! Due to injuries the team hadn't a single leader and the structure of the side was just a mishmash of defenders and midfielder's playing out of position.
