Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

The most concerning thing is we just don't look capable of scoring a goal through the middle of the pitch. I know wingplay is the United way but we need to be able to mix it up because crossing the ball into a box of static players is a 1 in 100 shot.

When the joint leader's in a league leave in 3 goals at home against the bottom team it all can't be the keepers fault! Due to injuries the team hadn't a single leader and the structure of the side was just a mishmash of defenders and midfielder's playing out of position.

I'm not going to call for De Gea to be dropped or claim he's been a bad buy but today he was at fault for 2 goals, the best keepers very rarely get beaten through the legs and he's done it twice this season and the winner was totally his fault

Reina's made a couple of mistakes that have lead to goals this season as well and was a walking nightmare early on in his PL career and he's arguably the best keeper in the world so like I said I won't go OTT on the criticsm of De Gea but today it was down to him

wow - didn't see that coming.

After Southampton lost yesterday, I'm hoping that Derby can keep the score at 2-1 over West Ham. Then Boro need a home win to go level on points with Soutampton at the top.

This is exactly what needs to happen + mogga getting MOTM award.

Not happy, bit like the Wolves game, real lack of penetration as having two centre backs as full backs means there's no link up play going forward and we can't probe through the middle either. Probably going to be another draw (i.e. RVP solo hat trick, plz). Walcott is anon, again.

Strikers often put it between keepers legs- it was one of Schmeichel's weakness. If UTD's defence had done it's job then that chance would never have happened.
Having a weak defence in front of him also doesn't help him as he probably feels like he has to go for balls that he normally won't go for which will lead to moments of indecision.

Having said that, the guy probably won't make it at UTD. Been a good keeper is mostly mental and his confidence is probably fairly low. His early lapses against long range shots plus been a keeper in a rudderless defence(Unless Rio finds fitness/form) will probably be too much for him.

In fairness, it was as clear a penalty as there's ever going to be! Do you normally lose to pens, against Chelsea, then?

No, just there's been (iirc) 6 penalties in the last 4 games between us at the bridge, 4 to Chelsea, 2 to us, expected another today.

3 of those were in 3-3 and 4-4 draws, respectively.
