Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

Didnt see the game but just watched it on youtube. That commentary from martin tyler is epic, gave me goosebumps.

Thanks to Sunderland for sparing our blushes, I did have a feeling that City would drop points today though albeit I never expected them to actually lose. From our perspective though while we should be thankful for Sunderland doing us a favour City still have to be the happier side this weekend given our game was at home to the bottom side in the league.

More a missed chance for us than them tbh. Hopefully Liverpool can do us a favour Tuesday night as well (hate having to rely on Liverpool to do us favours season after season)

EDIT: Actually Stevie G's back now isn't he, cue a backpass straight to Aguero  :p

I was sat watching the game and I said out load what is Tyler getting so excited for they're not going to score. How wrong was I :p

Who does he support? Seems to only get excited over certain teams, I do wonder at times if he is told to be more excited for one team than the other.

To be fair, when we beat City 3-0 at Anfield last season, Tyler did almost wet himself with excitement after both Carroll goals.

Well you go handing out £250k a week contracts to anyone and everyone and what do you expect?

Hope you win **** all as usual tbh. I'd rather Arsenal won the league.

Is City paying players £250k per week any different to when Chelsea upped ante and started paying players £150k+ per week when others weren't capable of matching them, or when Utd were paying players £100k per week before anybody else? We're just moving to greater extremes.

The way things are going, it won't be a surprise if in a few years somebody is paying a player £1m per week but in relation to what others are paying, it might not be any worse than City paying £250k now.

250k a week?
Well that is wrong straight away as the highest paid is Tevez and he is on 200k and the next highest is Yaya at circa 160k.

So because we have a lot of quality players in our team and are paying wages higher than most clubs we should expect the commentators and pundits to laud over everything that the opponent does when they play us?

Just unbiased commentary would be nice.

and ok. Thanks for letting me know. Will keep your thoughts in mind for the next 6 months.

I've read a lot of reports that claim that Aguero is on £200k+ per week.

And you don't really believe commentators are bias against City? :/

He isn't, possibly with bonuses for goals/appearances/sponsorship he might be touching it but "basic" wage is around 160k.

No i dont, but it seems every game that i watch to me it sounds like the commentator is very much in the opposite teams corner. I am listening to it from a City fans prospective so to me it sounds bad but to others it won't.

The headline figure regarding all players wages will include various bonuses though.

And you don't think they're bias but you do think they're in the oppositions corner? :/

Can't believe Wimbledon are still on 26 points, havent won since the start of October, we need some decent signings in this transfer window or our stay in the football league might be quite brief.
