Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th Dec 2011 - 4th Jan 2012]

What makes me rage the most is our consistent inability to take advantage of other teams slipping up...we do it yr in yr out without fail...i mean its lovely after our shambolic start to the season that we have got back into the top 5 but dear god we let ourselves down massively tonight and also when we played Fulham at the Emirates when we gifted them a goal via Vermaelen.

I cant see us getting into the top 4 at the end of the season...we just have no consistency beating lower placed teams...on another note, cant wait to see Henry back in an Arsenal shirt:p

That's a bit unfair. In the end, he's just celebrating a goal, not aiming at anyone in particular.

We'd have a hard job punishing players celebrating on here :p

So if I comment on every Liverpool game from now until the end of the season with a HAHAHAHAHAHA YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS every time they concede...

That's just celebrating a goal right?

In fairness, how many people celebrated Ji's (peace be upon him) goal v. City?

Exactly. People only complain about it when we're celebrating goals that their team have just conceded.

K1LLSW1TCH was ****ed off that Arsenal conceded and seeing somebody celebrate the goal made it worse. I'm sure later on once he's calmed down, he'll realise Purdy done nothing wrong.

gutted. we diddnt turn up second half. we should have had a penalty in the 1st half and really should have taken a 2/3 goal lead at half time. That one thing that cost us. lack of finishing by everyone except RVP.

2nd issue is the sending off. a bit soft IMO but Djurough knew he was on a yellow and should not have done that.

Anyways it seemed that we was down to 10 men anyway throughout the 2nd half as we simply did not show up. we was under pressure far too long and diddnt create any chances at all. rubbish performance by arsenal in the 2nd half.

You did the other week actually. :)

Not going to bother replying to you any more in this thread, it's not worth getting suspended/banned over your blatant attempts to wind people up so...

saw it coming a mile off, Djourou had been cack all game, had already commited several fouls and was well on his way to getting a yellow for repeated soft fouls, then does a ridiculous and pointless tackle that was a very easy yellow, and at that point he would be lucky to stay on the pitch for a single bad tackle....... and its Djourou so it was definitely coming.

Not only that but one of our only fit defenders he clearly was having a little trouble with his groin so the obvious thing for anyone to do , is sub the useless twit...... so what does Wenger do, same as always, nothing, walks into a problem that is clear as day.

As for his other substitution, at 1-0, only needing to keep the ball with a dodgy defence we take off the only Arsenal midfielder worth a damn, another classic Wenger mistake. Take off the best player in midfield and expect us to hold on to a result.... it NEVER works, it always fails, we always get worse and he does it yet again.

As for Gervinho, absolute and utter gash, Theo, marginally less absolute and utter gash. Song, more pointless fouls again, normally for no reason, like putting a leg in when the ball has gone and there is no danger, idiot. Defensively, still failed to see our lanky pratt attack a single set piece, offensively or defensively in a way that makes him worthy of being on the pitch.

On the second half performance Fulham could have run out with a ridiculous scoreline, they missed 2-3 headers that were basically sitters, as well as Ruiz punting it right at the keeper.

Dismal performance again and more evidence that Lille are probably sitting in a pile of cash worth around 12mil laughing their arses off. He refuses to pass till its too late, then he can't actually pass anyway and his shooting almost makes Walcott look good.

Thing is, its exactly what I expected.

Koscielny has certainly stepped up his game and has looked really very good this year and looked good most of todays game, most of the rest of the team simply aren't close to top 4 quality. Kos, Ramsey, RVP......... and some of our guys shouldn't be anywhere near the premier league.

i agree on most on what you said but to label Song as an idiot is far fetched and dillusional from you. Song has been one of our best players this season. He has helped kept shape in our midfield, breaking up play like what a DM job is suppose to be.

Djurough hasnt been THAT bad this game but that red card was disappointing for him. You make it sound as if he and other arsenal players are not Premier league material. i think you are over reacting big time

:/ At least you had players playing in positions they are relatively accustomed to playing. It's Wenger's fault that they happen to be ****.

And whats United's excuse? "ALL" your defenders are out injured? Or is it just vidic and ferdinand that is? Aint been following your team closely but i cant imagine that you only have "one" defender of some kind available out of your whole squad.

If so then maybe thats Fergies fault for not buying enough Defenders or something

Lol, knew it was going to happen once Djourou walked. To be fair to him though, the blame lies more with the ineptness of Walcott and Gervinho in the first half, and Wenger leaving clearly knackered players on the pitch. Walcott's pace was useful but his end product was crap, which was exactly why Chamerlain should have come on, because he wouldn't have been as gash (probably), give the lad a chance FFS. Instead he sticks Rosicky on, who is consistently useless and has no legs.

Fortunately everyone else has been in topsy tervy results the last week too, so things are still pretty open for 3rd/4th. Just need Wilshere back as this was yet another game crying out for someone who could pick a pass out.

Bbc interestingly talking about tiredness for Arsenal.

A bit like United we haven't been able to rotate much this season.
That could explain why we diddnt show up in the 2nd half

read my post about the game. this is exactly what i kind of said. Basically we flunked our chances 1st half

Why are people using tiredness as excuse, its rubbish in modern times with all the support the get, food and training ground set-ups.

Tiredness works both ways.

Ferdinand
Vidic
Smalling
Evans

All CBs, all missed the last game through injury. We are short of fullbacks but we should have more than adequate cover in central defence. The run of injuries we have had there is pretty unprecedented.
