Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th January - 3rd February 2015]

3-1 Full time.

Dominated the game and played fairly well. Nothing remarkable but with a slightly better final ball we could have scored 3 or 4 more.

I don't like Jones as a defender, at all, but I do like Rojo, he looks good (and has done all season really).

Valencia had loads of the ball and could barely come up with a cross or pass, very frustrating. Januzaj was a bit better but needs more games.

Blind was excellent and did his job brilliantly at the base of midfield. Rooney didn't do much, I don't really like him in midfield, he just looked like a spare part.

Di Maria messed up quite a few good opportunities but showed flashes of how good he can be, needs more games I think, and we shouldn't keep changing the team every week either.

All in all, some progress today.

Really impressive performance and a great result against a very good team that barely threatened us all game.

Mignolet played well and kept another clean sheet, Sakho was dominant in defence, Coutinho was silky through the middle but Sterling was ridiculously good up top and my MOTM.

Sturridge scoring was the icing on the cake and great for his confidence before the battle next weekend.

Edit: WTF is wrong with this forum these days? Right click doesn't work, pages don't load half of the time and it's stupidly slow now.
 
Good win against a team in the top half of the table. Limited them to absolutely nothing all game. Spine looked very strong, from Migs in Goal and Sahko at CB to Coutinho and Sterling up top. Sexy ball from Coutinho to Sterling for the 1st and lovely seeing the best striker in the league return and score after 15 off mins. Good game.

Disagree completely.

Looked great against Spurs bar a few poor finishes and his only goals I can recall, Swansea and Ludo were with partners (Borini certainly for Ludo when he came on)

To be fair with Sturridge it could be a different story. He'd link up well with Shola.

0-0 Mourinho snoozefest incoming?
 
Hugely frustrating first half from us. Like a lot of times this season we played some nice football and were constantly getting in and around their box but our final pass, playing 1 too many passes and finishing let us down. Coutinho and Henderson both had good chances to score but again their finishing let them down. It's really something that both need to improve on because long term it's going to cost us.

Scoring early in the 2nd half helped us a lot and the performance was much better. Coutinho's finishing might not be great but his passing is disgusting at times - that pass to Sterling was naughty. The performance went up a level again when Sturridge came on and we looked like such a more complete side with him in the team and he took his goal really well. Ibe looked good when he came on too.

Since changing system we look a totally different team. A lot of the talk has been about how good we've been from a creative point of view but our defence looks 10000x better. Against teams like West Ham we usually look a nervous mess at the back but we were rock solid.
