Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th October - 3rd November 2015]

If Vardy doesnt start for England, i'm going to personally go kick Woy in the head, he so reminds me of Suarez that guy.

It's going to be disgusting when Rooney starts ahead of Vardy for England, with the latter only getting 10/15 minutes to make a difference. Will be even worse if Welbeck and Sturridge get fit and he misses out completely :o.

IF there was ever proof that people needed for players being picked for commercial values and reputation over actual ability or current(be that form in the past few months or the last say 1-2 years) this would be it. Rooney shouldn't have made the last several squads with how dire he's been. Yes he's picked up a couple of goals against truly awful sides, he's still been truly awful in his all around play.

Rooney has played poorly for England for the past 3-4 years, especially bad that is, the last couple of years he's been terrible and doing the same for Utd. Outside of 1-2 years he never really played well for England.

I can't for the life of me understand how anyone would give him 300k a week. You know which club was looking to buy him to be a top striker for the next 5 years... none. His agent did a great job pushing a Chelsea angle, and Mourinho played into it, nothing better for CHelsea than forcing Utd's hand into giving out a daft contract like that. That is going to hurt Utd for fully 5 years(since it was signed).

He will start, but he'll be on the left so everyone can point to the fact he starts x games without scoring. Then roy can bring back sturridge and welbeck, no questions asked.

Another dire performance.

LvG needs to rethink his tactics, if he isn't too stubborn/stupid to do so.

He needs to let the team play with more freedom and not worry constantly about keeping possession. Possession is boring unless you have players tailor made for it (and not many teams do).

Playing Rooney in his current state should be a sackable offence in itself.

The tide is starting to turn among the fans, yes it's not been a total disaster by any means, but I'd swap him for Ancelotti right now.

First few minutes aside that was our best performance in a long time. We dominated the game, looked comfortable at the back and while not creating chance after chance, we definitely looked the most likely to score. Once we went ahead Chelsea fell apart and we could have scored at least another - it was like watching us from the end of last season.

As below, Lucas was certainly lucky not to get sent off but no more lucky than Costa - hopefully a 4 match ban to come :p
I never thought I'd hear a worse commentator than Savage but my god Francis is ridiculous. Has literally spouted rubbish all game long. Worst commentary line up of any channel.

Was it 90 seconds into the game he claimed that Klopp would be thinking of making a change? He was unbearable.
Yep but the same could be said about Milner, Lallana and Coutinho. Lucas has looked head and shoulders above them all but the rest need better players in front of them to thrive imo.

Lucas has been one of our better players in the last few weeks but we saw again today why he's only a short term fix. He's not able to get to challenges like he once was and he's giving away far too many free-kicks. He should have gone today and it was the same story against Everton - it's going to cost us sooner rather than later.

Very very very good result against Swansea for Arsenal. Swansea had'nt got a result in quite a while, potential bannana skin like. Very happy today! And it's Halloween...yay...:D

The last few years under fergie were rubbish football wise bar RvPs magic but at least we were effective. At the moment we are neither entertaining nor effective.

+1

between Moyes and LvG the spirit has completely gone.

The squad is looking too thin, and when a couple of players are out of form we have very little choice on the bench to turn it around

He's done a reasonable amount of good, but an equal amount of bad. The whole philosophy thing is a right mess.

Just at the moment we seem to really be struggling and not getting any better.

Yea, he still needs to be given time. He does seem a bit odd though at times..

People talk about Moyes being defensive, i see this UTD team being more so, the 2 Sch's in the middle of the park is a bad idea.

The flat out refusal to drop Rooney, or even take him off, is astonishing. That's really a bigger issue than anything else at the moment.

absolutely no pace in the side (apart from Marial, who is marginalised on the wing) passing for passing sake rather than anything effective and we still allow teams to create chances against us

completely dire
