Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [30th September - 2nd October 2011]

lol Have you seen who've they've played start of the season?

The results don't matter, if the performances were good they'd eventually win games against less good teams, the performances have been beyond pathetic, Arsenal beat them easily, Arsenal needed to be gifted a goal against Swansea to get their first win.

If you defend like they are today against Chelsea, they'll lose 10-0, against Swansea, they'll lose 3-0, against Brentford, they'd lose 2-0, against Yeovil, they might scrape a draw.

4-0 against QPR
2-3 against City
1-3 against Liverpool
0-5 against United
1-2 against Norwich (down to 10 men for 45mins)
0-3 against Arsenal (down to 10 men at 0-1)

Not exactly that bad considering the opposition. They were in the arsenal game until the sending off, they almost drew with city and the Norwich result was just a slip up. They should start to pick up form once they get a run against easier teams.

They also have Stuart Holden, Wheater, Klasnic, Lee and Jaaskelainen to come back.

Look at their results at the end of last season. It's not just this season they have been poor.
Their performances dropped off when they lost Holden. They've also lost Lee during pre-season as well as Sturridge and Elmander up front. They've essentially lost 4 first team players and don't have any money to replace them.

They lost the final 5 games of the season, beating West Ham and Arsenal before that(both in terrible form and prime for beating), and lost to Brum before that.

They've won a single game against QPR in the first game of the season where QPR looked, frankly scared and new, they've improved HUGELY on where they were, Bolton got lucky and played the newest team to the league at the best possible time.

OF the 6 games this season, Arsenal, Norwich and QPR, with 3 tough games, and they've been beyond awful in all but that first game.

Likewise, they got a whole 17 points in the second half of last season, only a half decent first half of the season stopped them being relegated, their form is now significantly worse than the first half of last season. This isn't short term, its not to do with who they've played, they've just been bad, really really bad defensively.

Replacing Coyle would be a disaster for Bolton. They cannot get anyone in who would do a better job and they would have to pay him off which is dumb considering they do not really have any cash to buy the players they need.

Rumours that Jol and Zamora had a falling out during the week - be interesting to see if he plays. Can't make it to the game today :(

Zamora starting - no surprise really, he only plays home games :p

Schwarzer
Grygera Baird Hangeland Riise
Dempsey Murphy Sidwell
Dembele Zamora Johnson

Or something.

It's all about Megson!

Wednesday up to fourth in the League, I'm actually just, I don't know how I feel :D

Starting to really make his mark on the side, might not win an award for pretty football but playing very well at times.

How is Marshall doing?

They're on their way down with him replacing him is the ONLY option at this point, even if its just for the morale boost, sometimes players to get confidence just need to be able to blame someone and get a new manager in, the defence has become abysmal.

They lost 4 games in the first half of last season, they lost 12 in the second half of last season.

If we include todays game as a loss(I think thats fair enough), in the past 26 games, second half of last season, and this season, they've lost 19 of those games. They had Jussi last year, he played most of the year and most people thought he was getting pretty rubbish last year, not quite fair as its mostly GK completely exposed and having little chance to do well.

FOr the record I think Brum lost 9 games second half of last season, Blackpool lost 11 games and West Ham lost 10.......... Bolton lost 12, their win ratio is even worse this season.

Interesting for comparison if not proving anything, West ham and Blackpool lost 5 games on the trot last season, once, Brum/Sunderland were around 3-4 games in a row. Bolton lost 5 in a row end of the season, and are on route to losing 6 games in a row this season.......

Right now they are on course to finish with under 17 points. They WILL pick up more wins than they have in all the games this season to today, but they need to pick up a LOT more, a heck of a lot more.
