Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [3rd - 6th May 2019]

If Newcastle could defend they'd be dangerous, one of those sorts of goals in a game is a travesty but two?

What rule number does that come in under FA Premier League rules?

This is from the FA's rulebook...

"If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution / send off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution / send off must be issued when the ball is next out of play, except for the denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity when the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour."

Should've been booked but not a red card

What's the law number pal?

I cannot be arsed to go into it here but it's a clear advantage. It's like when a striker is taken out but scores ..advantage and a goal. Had Newcastle not scored then it's clearly a red.

He can't have denied a goalscoring opportunity when they literally scored from it.

Could the ref had played advantage and Newcastle not have scored?

Matt Ritchie has nude pics of Mariner. Two yellow card challenges he's put in on Salah and not even a free-kick has been given. For all the talk on commentary about Newcastle may have been better off not scoring, watching the replay there's no sign that Mariner was playing any advantage and would have given a pen. Tbf he's had a shocking game right from the pen we should have had for Manquillo kicking Mane in the head.

Yes and he would have then given the penalty and red card.

Chill pal! Maudie has given the law now and they have discussed it during half time.

I was misunderstanding the advantage rule, I was not aware of the part about if it was a goal scoring opportunity it's only a yellow.

If the ref was competent he'd have blown straight away, given the pen and a red. He lucked out that it fell to Atsu so he didn't have to make a decision.

Mariner wasn't going to give it, he never looked like giving it. Newcastle should be happy that Atsu scored because if he hadn't they weren't getting a penalty and certainly no red.

You can file Marriner in the same standard as Oliver, both utter dog **** refs. It was as blatant a hand ball you're ever going to see and he missed it.
