Not according to FIFA, if Newcastle hadn't scored then it would've been but since it didn't prevent a goal (Atsu knocked the rebound in) it wasn't a red card offence
Yikes.

I said Newcastle scored? As in why would he be sent off and he didn't deny it...you literally scored.

I'm not a Newcastle fan mate.
He did deny a goal... Are you saying he didn't handball it to prevent it going in?
Getting a goal you wouldn't have got anyway is not an advantage.
If Newcastle could defend they'd be dangerous, one of those sorts of goals in a game is a travesty but two?
What rule number does that come in under FA Premier League rules?
I'm saying what resulted is a goal. It's literally in the laws of the game.
What's the law number pal?
This is from the FA's rulebook...
"If the referee plays the advantage for an offence for which a caution / send off would have been issued had play been stopped, this caution / send off must be issued when the ball is next out of play, except for the denial of an obvious goal-scoring opportunity when the player is cautioned for unsporting behaviour."
Should've been booked but not a red card
Yes and he would have then given the penalty and red card.Could the ref had played advantage and Newcastle not have scored?
I cannot be arsed to go into it here but it's a clear advantage. It's like when a striker is taken out but scores ..advantage and a goal. Had Newcastle not scored then it's clearly a red.
He can't have denied a goalscoring opportunity when they literally scored from it.![]()

Thankfully, he followed the rules. If the ref was competent he'd have blown straight away, given the pen and a red. He lucked out that it fell to Atsu so he didn't have to make a decision.
