Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [3rd - 7th February 2017]

No we don't, we got it with a far better, more exciting team and couldn't even get Sanchez. We need a **** load of money or a manager who can set us up properly to be tighter and win games by close margins. Doesn't have to be negative football, but reckless football is just costing the club.

Not sure why you are disagreeing with me*there. Getting top 4 will make it easier to get players, I didn't say*we didn't need to spend lots of cash as well. I also said we need to try other things in games like this, as playing like we are is costing us points.

Oh hello another team defends and hits us on the counter. Klopp ain't got a clue apart from attack attack attack.

Absolute disgrace the results we've had lately. What is it about 1 win in 10?

Hope the owners give him a bit of a shake up.

Why? Average is what they are all about. If they had ambitions we would have signed players in the last window.

haha, 6-3 Everton. Bournemouth pulled a goal back that had maybe gone out. Pushing forwards Bournemouth over committing and one long ball forwards and Barkley was in on the goal almost, keeper came out the box and left himself with no real options.

Great game.

EDIT:- as I post Bournemouth came within about an inch of getting a penalty.

Dreadful performance and we're now only 6 points ahead of Everton. I honestly don't see us even qualifying for Europe now and two seasons in a row out of Europe will be very hard to argue keeping Klopp without massive financial backing.

Lmfao Hull! :D
Are you a Liverpool supporter because the only time I see you post in SA is to mock us.

We got top 4 and acquired who exactly that year?

Maybe consistently yeah if we get it, this summer it will make **** all difference, need to spend or adapt our approach massively.

I really like Klopp by the way, I'm sure he is even more disappointed than myself, but these issues were just ignored when we had Rodgers and he got the total of the blame. (Which he probably earned for being nearly as stubborn as Klopp has been for three months)

Yep, we don't have Suarez to dig us out of a hole anymore either which is a shame because of all the strikers in the world he's the one that would best suit a Klopp team :(

I'd ******* kill for Costa, he'd bury the three chances each of our forwards screw up every game

This is simply not true. We've played different players, different systems but we just haven't been able to play well when doing so.

Teams were playing the exact same way against us at the start of the season and we were tearing them apart. Our problem is we rely on 1 set of players and when 1 or 2 are injured or out of form we're ****ed.

The other problem is that we're turning into Arsenal. All the best teams in the PL have always had immense physicality - the current Chelsea side, the City side of a few years back, the Chelsea side prior to that, and the great Arsenal and United sides before that. We have a lot of little, technically excellent players, but on an off day we can't get by by scrapping and bullying difficult sides. We either beat teams playing well, or we don't win.

I'm all for excellent attacking football, and am a huge fan of Lallana, Mane and Coutinho, but no team can win like that game in game out, especially against big sides set up to defend.

EDIT: Fully behind Klopp atm, we're a much better team now than a year ago, when we were losing similar matches but equally failing to win when playing well. He's improving us, but there's a long way to go yet.

All I am saying is getting top 4*might/would help getting players*if we are willing to also spend money. Hardly going to be a bad thing is it? I am not saying getting top 4 and all of a sudden half of Barcelona's side are going to*turn up for a packet of crisps and a Crunchie bar.

We were way ahead of our points tally of last season a month or two ago but it's beginning to look like our blistering start has caught up with us and we've run out of steam with half the season still to go.

I dont want to be negative, I really dont...but I honestly do not think we are going to get top 4 this year. If City win their match, we are down to 5th, if Utd win their match then they are 1 pt behind us. City are always more likely to win a game than lose it and Utd are on good form and on the rise, we on the other hand are spiralling downwards and its very difficult for me to look at form and say with an honest voice that we will register more points in the remaining games than City and Utd.

I think that in the past 5 weeks, top 4 has gone.

@Purdy and BaZ choice of Europa League (potentially attract a slightly higher calibre of player) or No Euro football, what would you go for ?

I think you may miss out on top 4, team looks blown out

I don't want to defend Liverpool, nor proclaim Hull as amazing or anything. But since that bloody foreigner had the nerve to attempt to be the manager at Hull, in a league he knows absolutely nothing about.... in 4 games he's won 2, drawn 1 and lost 1.

The loss was to Chelsea away from home, they drew at old Trafford, they beat Bournemouth and now Liverpool at home.

Will be interesting to see how he does, anyone watch soccer saturday much, has anyone asked that prat Merson, or big nose, how they think he's doing yet? If they genuinely look a vastly improved team, is this just new manager lift or is he making a truly fantastic difference. Either way pretty fantastic start Silva, beating Liverpool and drawing at old Trafford in the first 4 games even without the bournemouth win that is amazing.

Start*of this season I*was happy with top*4 or at least a very close run of it depending on how City, Chelsea and Man*U did considering all the*personal changes this year.*I still think we can fight for top*4 if we get a decent run*of form going sooner rather then later. Both City and Man U have had patches where they haven't been great this year as well.*

Was it a blistering start? To be fair a few people on here (not me) predicted Liverpool should have been top or there abouts after 12 games because of the fixture list. Klopp was then a messiah and every team in the league or any league would take him etc.

I said quite a few times with the way the finances are he won't ever get as near as BR got to winning the title at Liverpool. Even last week I was utterly amazed the amount of LFC fans I know who have turned on Klopp.

I'd take Europa League, its our spending level and it is fun in the later stages if you get there.

Really, with the start we had? Most people were predicting we would be near the bottom.

You may be right - but this backs my point up. City and United will win the majority of their easy matches, because they have sides which can cope with the different challenges presented by weaker teams. They have special players up front who can nick goals, and strength at the back to deal with physical sides. We don't have that. We need to win by running hard, pressing high, and scoring good goals. Doing that game in game out is difficult.

As much as I am no Liverpool fan turning on the manager will not help. Who else is out there. He has got a lot out of some bang average players like Llalana and Milner

The high energy press though is a problem with a small squad.
