I dont see a title challenge for Liverpool next season unless they spend something like £100 million as some players are not good enough and getting used to CL football in mid week with league games a couple of days after will take it's toll on the team.
He's in the same position Rafa found himself. Small squad and a tiny budget compared to the teams we're expected to compete against so do we spend big on a few quality players or look for cheaper backups? There's no right or wrong and both will come back to haunt us.

Thanks, tbh Liverpool over achieved this season and we seen today their team is limited.

Rodgers with a big budget and a couple of years to build his team would be great to watch and i'm sure he will have another crack at the league in another couple of years.

I agree, this season is still a great achievement with the team we have. Build on it and in a year or two it could be magical.

Rodgers will learn from this, he needs to be up front with the owners too on spending.

And if he did that and it was 3-3 at the end you would be screaming why did he change from a formation that was looking to score 6 goals! Every single manager ever, the hindsight police can pull apart and say they lacked experience and made the wrong call. If you felt that at 3-1 why didn't you post that here?

Rodgers has taken a team almost all of us thought would just about get in the top 4 if they were lucky to a hair of the title. Manager of the year by a mile.

Liverpool are a team that have been crumbling defensively and leaking late goals all season though. There's no shame in trying to see out a game when you have a two or three goal lead. If you've set up your defence and you still concede loads of goals then you just have to hold up your hands and say fair enough. Even with a defensive setup Liverpool have plenty of players that can play out and and break quickly.

Pressure now firmly back on City

chorlte

i wouldn't actually have been too wounded if liverpool had won it as it'd be good for the league but city have not looked under pressure once imo. just gone about it in an almost foregone conclusion kind of way knowing that even though liverpool beat them, they still had the belief they would win the race.

i don't think it's brutal at all. watching ferguson destroy keegan (mentally) was great entertainment and great for the league. this season has been nothing like that. pellegrini has been like an assassin just biding his time.

I think Gerrard's huddle where he screamed at the players "this does not ******* slip now" will go down in history alongside Kevin Keegan and his "I'll love it if we beat them" moment, it's like he saddled the team with a whole load of pressure and they've just completely ballsed things up ever since.

Credit to Palace on a fantastic comeback though and their fans in the corner were fantastic throughout, even at 3-0 down.

Dont think it was that bad tbh, what people will remember it for is when he slipped for the Chelsea goal that realistically cost them the league after saying "lets not let this ******* slip!"

Probably should have kept that huddle for in the dressing room but his adrenaline and emotions probably got the better of him.

I'm hoping it sticks and gerrard retires having never won the title. All these Ming ***** saying how he deserves it.

Plus it was hacked apparently.

Gimme a break. The "oh we must have been hacked" is the go to excuse when whatever moron they've hired whose blagged his way into the organisation as a "social media expert" tweets something retarded. And 13 year old girls who "frape" their friends.
