You see tackles like the Johnson one every other week. Haven't seen anything as bad as welbeck since ronaldo
lol, Baird pulled out of the challenge, some angles give the slight impression that Baird pulling away his leg "drags" Welbeck's leg with him, however most angles show Baird standing out the way, sticks his leg out, changes his mind brings it back and the ONLY reason Johnson went down is he threw his leg sideways, he also dived a second time not much later, both in the box, both should have been yellows.
I'm still not convinced the Sturridge one was a penalty though, it feels more like Evra just let the ball get away from him Sturridge was coming in, easily the favourite to get to the ball and Evra kicked out his leg to get it infront of him.
From one of the side angles you see as he's kicking he's really no where near the ball and actually gets between Sturridge and the ball, I think he's done exactly what Welbeck and Johnson have done but being "ahead" of Sturridge right up till the kick most people have seen it the other way around. Thing is Evra simply wasn't between Sturridge and the ball, you protect the ball in those situations by having your body between the other player and the ball. In this situation its more Evra just sticking his leg out but not remotely having control of the ball.
The only genuine penalty was the Young one, and it looked the most like a dive, such is life. The idiots going on about "he fell forward but had his shirt tugged so clearly a dive, are stupid. Ever had someone pull you back, you push forward harder then they let go, which way do you go, not backwards. Also the shirt pull didn't take him down, just slowed him, it was the leg contact that sent him down.
