Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th - 7th Feb 2012]

Why is Rooney sticking his nose he, he is a ***** of a highest order, its not like he doesn't go around swinging elbows at other players (Wigan and Stoke) and gets away with it and stamping on people.

Cant stand him, he is what is wrong with English football and is actually seen as a nice guy.

I don't know anyone who thinks he's a 'nice guy', what nonsense.

You seem to be missing the most important point here, Suarez is tagged.......... because he keeps cheating, fouling, mouthing off, diving, kicking players for no reason, eye gouging, neck biting, etc, etc.

I mean did you see his reaction to his two shots blocked in a row, clear as day on the replay NEITHER blocks were handballs, but between them the ball hit Suarez on the hand, accidentally, to allow him the second shot. But was it a "look at the ref with puppy dog eyes asking for the penalty", no, he was screaming, and yelling, and pulling faces, and shouting at the ref, and did it stop after 3 seconds, no, he was complaining about it for a while.

The difference being that Suarez didnt have the benefit of having a video replay to show that the blocks werent handballs.

Thats the moment Suarez has taken his first shot, and it's blocked by King. You can clearly see that Kings arm is out to the same side of his body that was used to block the ball.

Are you telling me that in the split second between shooting the ball, and the ball hitting King, that Suarez after seeing Kings body position, would not think that it was handball?

Every player in the league would be appealing for that and having a good moan afterwards if it wasn't given. I just watched Suarez's reaction and moan after the blocks too, he got out his frustration, and it certainly didn't carry on to the extent that you make out.

Lets make one thing clear, I think Rooney's a **** :p

But I'll have no problems cheering if he scores the winner for England in the final of the Euros.

It's true regarding every set of fans and their players. You only have to look at cm1179's post last weekend regarding Ekotto's challenge vs Wigan or his refusal to accept that Defoe clearly bit Mascherano. We're all bias, we all defend our own. Some are more extreme than others though.

I think you will find MOST spurs fans held their hands up and said that BAE's challenge was atrocious. However in my honest opinion and im not just trolling - Liverpool do have a real persecution complex/blinkers. You only have to look at Dalglish and you wonder why the fans are like it if the manager is going to keep spouting rubbish. Just my opinion.

We don't have a persecution complex, no more than any other club. It's just that we've found ourselves at the centre of the storm. The general reaction from any other set of fans would have been the same in the same circumstances.

Regarding what I said about Ekotto's tackle; that was just a minor example and as I said, you get varying degrees of bias. The general consensus of most fans (had it been their own player) would have been that Ekotto should have been sent off. There will always be the odd one that will claim otherwise though.

tbh I would rather see 2 other players take the place of Terry and Rooney, we will win nothing with thugs in the team. NOTHING

The thing that irks me, is that there was such a "everyone is against us" attitude taken, before anything was reached or really done. big bad FA vs poor little Liverpool....I can count on 1 hand the number of fans that have said he should have been banned. now I know its a hypothetical situation and so on, but if he had been a spurs player I would have been appalled by what was done/said and frankly not been happy for him to represent spurs in the future. and im sure a high % would have agreed with me. Once again I feel I have to clarify im not trying to get a reaction and just getting my point across.

Speaking of England...

I would probably start giving Ox a try in the england setup now. Can't be any worse than Walcott/Downing/Milner can he?

Ashley Young and Ox on the wings, Gerrard and Parker in the middle. Sturridge and Rooney up top probably. Back 4 I struggle to name though, but would probably want to start testing the water with Phil Jones and Chris Smalling. I would probably use Micah Richards at right back and Ashley Cole at left back.

Id agree with you, I really think we need to ship out terry, ferdinand, lampard. Richards is deff the best RB at the moment, 2nd choice between johnson and walker.
CBs Dawson has got to be atleast 3rd choice, Smalling, jones deff worth a shout, jagielka?

I think it's a little too soon to be mentioning AOC after just a couple of premier league starts. If he keeps this form up till the end of the season though i think Capello would be crazy not to take him.

what's rooney said/typed?

rooney twittered (or twitted :D) that Saurez should have been given a straight red last night for the kick he gave Parker in the chest (rather than the yellow he did get)

Is Richards that good a defender? Not convinced to be honest, although he is a good (rather than decent) suppliment in attack, not that sure about Johnson either, but Walker looks promising although Ihavent seen a lot of him

I disagree that Liverpool fans on the whole claimed it was everybody against us, I certainly didn't. A minority may have and like with most things, the most controversial views are those that get the attention not the view that best represents Liverpool supporters on the whole. And I disagree that Spurs (or any club's) supporters (or at least the majority of them) would have been critical of their player. It's just the way supporters are.
