Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th April - 8th April 2014]

I said it would be when the list came up, I don't agree with it because the keeper was acting like a drunkard and didn't even know where his goal was.

I can't believe they were comparing it to Beckham's goal against Wimbledon. Just not even close IMO.

I don't think Liverpool's 2nd pen was a pen either. I'm a member of the goalkeepers union so I'm backing Adrian there. He got a touch to the ball, and while he did seem to grab a little at Flanagan's leg, Flanagan was already virtually on the ground when it happened. Flanagan tripped over Adrian's arm when he got a touch to the ball. It's no pen for me, but then again West Ham's was never a goal either, so it kinda evened itself out in the end.

Sorry, but nah...

Flanagan pokes the ball under Adrian, the fact that Adrian gets a touch is irrelevant really, he doesn't control the ball... which squirms under his hand, the same hand catches Flanagan's foot. Then Adrian's other hand wraps around Flanagan's ankle to make sure he brings him down. Even if the touch on the ball puts some doubt on the decision, the second grabbing on the ankle is stonewall, regardless of the fact he's just tripped Flanagan whilst getting a touch, the ball is still in play and Flanagan gets the ball back under control. Adrian is attempting to hamper this by grabbing the ankle. Flanagan plays on after that clip and gets the ball to Sturridge.

Not only was it a pen, it was a nailed on DOGSO. The only reason why the "it wasn't a pen" narrative has any legs is cos of the commentary. They were dying for a "ref evening things up" moment and they made one up. There were far worse decisions in the game, without mentioning Andy Carroll's hands.
