Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [4th April - 8th April 2014]

I don't believe so. As Arsenal would have already qualified for Europe via the League then the FA Cup's Europa League spot goes to the runner-up. 5th and 6th get Europa League spots.

We'd still need City to at least draw one more of their remaining games and looking at their fixtures you're relying on Everton and maybe Palace to do that.

I still think we may have to win all our games to win the title.

I keep saying we will beat City, you will beat either Chelsea or City at home. Beating Chelsea will be enough. I think you will win the league before the final game of the season. You won't drop points at all in the other games, I still see you getting 4 points from Chelsea and City. It will be enough.

Tomkins should have been sent off there. There's no way another West Ham defender would have got back to challenge Suarez.

I started reading that and thought finally you've come clean, you're a red. Stop trying to Pigeon us!

**** off :p

Wasn't a pen imo, but also the West Ham goal should have clearly been disallowed. At least West Ham didn't get anything!

Hope Liverpool win the league out of the teams up there.

Excellent analysis from Neil Lennon on MOTD. Hopefully we hear more from him rather than Hartson in the rest of the show.
Was going to say, makes a change from hearing them just tell us what we want to hear or highlight individuals.

Edit: I don't like the fact his head points in a different direction to his mouth when he talks though.

what he say?

He spoke about how the switch in formation from us from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 diamond allowed us to push our fullbacks forward and play with more width. Most of the dinosaur pundits would have automatically assumed that we were narrower playing with the diamond.

yeah like if a player is out position leading to a goal "out of position, where the back four line, diabolical". Then if they score a goal "taken a chance, that's what great players do, always making the runs and pushing forwards"

same naff chat every time. at least the Sky pundits give some insight into recent times and dressing rooms / their tactics

We've sacked Hughton. I don't know what to think.

Wolves all over again. :p

In about a months time when Norwich are relegated ;) Hughton would be the perfect manager for next season.

Rooney against West Ham...unfortunately.

I said it would be when the list came up, I don't agree with it because the keeper was acting like a drunkard and didn't even know where his goal was.

Technically I guess, but I don't think the handball was completely intentional (he made no movement towards the ball with his hand). A pen and yellow was enough IMO.

I don't think Liverpool's 2nd pen was a pen either. I'm a member of the goalkeepers union so I'm backing Adrian there. He got a touch to the ball, and while he did seem to grab a little at Flanagan's leg, Flanagan was already virtually on the ground when it happened. Flanagan tripped over Adrian's arm when he got a touch to the ball. It's no pen for me, but then again West Ham's was never a goal either, so it kinda evened itself out in the end.

After watching MOTD last night it struck me just how big the difference is between Martinez and Moyes for Everton. Moyes would often try to come up with tactics to suit the opposition, to stop their best players and try to get a goal ourselves. Martinez also comes up with tactics to suit the opposition, but he does it in a way to try and exploit their weaker players. Lukaku against Monreal was a mismatch all game long, and Naismith's movement and intelligence was probably more of a handful for Mertersacker and Vermalean than Lukaku's physicality would've been. Inspired tactics from Martinez and perfectly highlights the differences between the two managers.
