Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [5th - 6th November 2011]

the pass of the season to Dzeko. Again, well executed but, one defender who was facing the opposition, flat footed and stranded, and all Silva had to do was knock it anywhere in behind that defender, he had a 30x30 box to aim for, it wasn't anywhere near the top 50 passes in that game, let alone the season,

You cannot be serious? not in the top 50 of the game?

That pass was sublime, not many would have attempted that never mind execute it.

RVP still in immense form it seems. If only he can stay fit for the majority of the season, we need him to if we want to finish top four. I don't really see Lollerpool finishing in the CL places, not with the way they're set up at the moment.

No, they have a manager who's record is no worse than Hodgson's, it's hilarious yet they still demanded his return despite his clear tactical incompetancies, being stuck in the 90s et al.

Its probably symptomatic of having a manager who feels he can take chances defensively because he is used to running over most teams.

The tactical aspect of the games doesnt have to matter as much if you simply have better players. AVB has had that so far in his career.

oddly enough you could easily make that point about SAF too. for years we have simply had the better team of players than everyone else in the premiership.

all id say is that with our team youd have to be doing something wrong to scrape the results that we have. we never managed to become a great passing team - which lets state could be achieved with most teams if you had virtually unlimited time and money as SAF has. instead we play long and direct counter attacking football which is often the hallmark of a team that cannot control a game and rely upon the form and quality of one or 2 stars in the team to pull you through.

 On SAF's 25th anniversary, only NickG would attempt to undermine his legacy. Laughable.

His point about how ManU play is correct, though I would not agree with his conclusions. ManU have always been a direct and counter attacking team who never really look the most comfortable when they are trying to control a game.

Much respect to SAF though, arguably the best manager to grace the game ever.

That's the point though, we do play counter-attacking football, but to say we have only been successful off the back of a handful of star performers is ludicrous at best.
