Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [6 - 8th April 2013]

^^ HAHA! I wonder if he knows how many silly faces he pulls during football...

David de Gea had gone 679 minutes without conceding a Premier League goal .

Worlds least exciting fact is that last goal conceded was at home against Southampton.

even if united do strengthen their midfield, i think depth in quality from the other two clubs could be just too much.

General consensus from those who know football is that one of the reasons we're 12 points clear is due to our better overall squad, but hey what do they know when you think otherwise eh...

Oh and FYI if I were you I'd be hoping City and more specifically Chelsea stay as they are because if they do significantly improve their management then it'll be your side that's 'blown away' more than we will ;)

We have a better squad and manager but we're behind on first eleven. We'll struggle to win cups and Europe unless we improve that.

Exactly, you need an extremely strong first eleven (for Europe at the very least), as well as having a good squad.

Our strongest eleven is some way behind other teams.

Haha, that has brightened my day. I was expecting to be a miserable **** all day but im thinking about the positives.

We should still win the league, and I really do hope that there is some serious reshuffling work done in the summer.

Nani Out
Anderson Out
Valencia sent to a confidence coach
Good midfield signing
Some amazing winger!!

You can't blame Anderson he didn't even play!

Its fair to say that rvp has been a double edge sword. Yes he got us to the top of the league, but his extreme misses have contributed to us going out of the champs league and his lack of form has helped put us out of the fa cup and did not help last night.

We (united) simply don't have enough proper world class players. We have Van Persie, Rooney....and....? (Ok maybe Vidic and ferdinand but they are getting old now ,especially Ferdinand)

We desperately need a world class creative midfielder! Our midfield didnt and has never coped with the likes of Toure ( as has been evident in all our recent matches with City)

it's a shame vert isn't english. then we wouldn't have to pin future international organisation of a back 4 on phil jones. could some one please tell him to take a grade 2 to his barnet? his egg head and wonky hairline made his hair look worse than walkers!

Phil Jones looked decent at CB to me

I didn't see any obvious mistakes, and he was instrumental in the goal that United scored.

City won because they were simply better in midfield and the final third. I think Giggs looked like the worst player on the pitch, giving the ball away at pretty much every opportunity.

Carrick was abysmal yesterday and Giggs, he's actually been far improved at points this season, though there does seem to be a little bit less care in his play since he got a new contract again, the back heel was stupid no matter how you look at it.

Evra, was diabolical once again, for the second goal, its hilarious, you can just see him standing, watching Aguero run into the Evra shaped hole before scoring the goal. There was no reason Evra couldn't have run across and completely cut off Aguero and so no goal, but instead he stood there watching.

There was a very odd attack earlier in the half, Evra carried it to up the field, gave it to Young who passed up for the field for Evra again, but Evra had randomly slowed down and made no attempt to go after the ball, City got it, Evra jogged towards him, then jogged back then Giggs conceded a freekick as they broke, with Evra looking like he'd given up trying.

He just seems to randomly give up whenever he feels like it, gave up mid attack, making no attempt to get back, for the goal, just gave up defending and stood there watching, and did it multiple times throughout the game/season. Rooney either under or overhit almost every pass, coupled with a few Giggs like moments where he picked the most retarded pass possible.

Valencia on to turn things around, lol, Kagawa gets 3-4 minutes, lol, Carrick is somehow playing and starting for the champions.... lol.

Utd's title win this year(almost certainly) shows just how far the league has fallen, I honestly think the current top 4 would be struggling to be in Europa league spots if they were playing against the teams the league had in 2000-2007 , or somewhere around then.

I mean, when was the last time 20th through what, 11th, were in a relegation fight with 6 games to go?

I also can't remember him giving the ball away once!! Only critiscm being that he and everyone else bar Rooney didn't have the balls to get near Toure :(

But we all know DM is brain dead when it comes to some players, if that had been Eboue in midfield last night he'd still be having a screaming orgasm today :o

i don't think you have a better squad than city or chelsea, just ferguson knows how to use your squad better. if city or chelsea get the right manager in who can do the same, they'll march off.

city and chelsea should probably beat united every time they play and united will continue to be consistent in getting 1-0 wins (and drab performances) against the likes of sunderland. fine, until chelsea and city get the right manager in.

i'm under no illusion that city and chelsea are a step up from spurs, even if both are being managed by the wrong person.

It wasnt a **** performance. get over it. Was u playing some relegated bottom of the table team? No u was playing city, a team that has a better squad then u and if push comes to shove, if both united and city were playing at there absolute best, city would win 9/10 encounters.

No credit whatsoever for city and all moaning how poor united are. jesus.

Yes because we didn't beat them at the start of the season?

Do you think spurs would be where they are without Bale?

Yep, this is pretty special even for you.

Bravo.

i doubt it (we haven't won a game where he hasn't scored since january) but what sunday showed (and it was kind of a breath of fresh air) is how other players can step-up when not in bale's shadow. sig, walker and manu worked their socks off on sunday and they had all been sub-par previously.

bale is our best player but we do often suffer because everyone looks to him for an answer. he has delivered an awful lot of the time but when he doesn't, it effects everyone.

look at our wage bill and it's easy to see why we are more on evertons level than chelsea and city's. we punch above our weight.
