Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [6th - 11th April 2012]

Lambert had the hardest job, done an unbelievable job with his squad. Can't believe Bradley Johnson is a Prem player, Howson was anonymous for us too when playing this season.

Pardew had a decent-ish team at the start and has spent money to bring in some quality signings, nothing on Lambert though. Although if Pardew does get them in the CL I guess that could pip Lambert.

imho Pardew had the hardest job. It's not just about how good a squad you have.

Look at the poo storm at the club when he took over.

None of the fans wanted him and don't forget he had to sell some of his best players as told by the club top brass and still keep the fans on side.

Pardew has handled himself extremely well in the press when doing so and won mnay fans over and now they are buying into what the club is trying to build and do.

Ha what is going on this season. Tottenham have lost the plot, Harry will be hoping he can get the England job at this rate.

He will be whingeing soon about not having had the money to buy enough players to push for fourth.

Its amazing how soon as the sides in and around him stop trolling and actually got their heads down and got back to playing footballm that Spurs top four push completely derailed.

Still cant believe that people were actually seriously talking about this man mounting a serious title push with Spuds.

They are as far away from that as they have ever been.

Wasn't Pardew appointed last season, half way through though? So he had then and the summer to build his squad.

Lambert has taken a League 1 team to 9th in Prem.

Spurs run recently has been shocking. If chelsea win by 2 goals today we'll get back to champ's league position. :)

Pardew has took a team many tipped as relegation candidates and been top 8 all season. Top 6 most. Missed half his first choice defence for half the season, been without best players over the busiest time of the season and is still up there pushing for CL.

Much bigger achievement than the rest but I can see Rodgers winning because the media have been bumming him for past few month non stop.

Yes but look at the number of high profile players that left in the summer.

This could have easily went the other way with many top pundits marking us to get relegated and everything Newts said

Pardew has done a great job.

He has single handedly blown this myth about "no value in the market" and needing to spend 20 and 30 million pounds on players to find decent quality completely out of the water.

He is even making Obertan look slightly better than complete dog****, and THAT is a miracle.

I guess you need to be a supporter outside of the Prem to appreciate Lambert's achievement. I bet most of you can hardly name a Norwich player other than Holt, says it all.

He took a League 1 team that lost 7-1 to Colchester(Who were managed by him at the time) all the way to the 9th in the prem.

Pardew did have to change the squad and get rid of some good players, but he still had far more money to spend on transfers and wages than Norwich and Swansea have had which naturally means he has access to far better players. He has done a very good job in getting them up there with the big teams, but I think the job that Rodgers and Lambert have done in taking two newly promoted teams with players from lower divisions to a strong mid-table.

Im not sure CL football would be agood idea long term for Newcastle next season, it might just be a step too far too soon (and league form/position could suffer for it)

Better to stay in Europa league for 1 or 2 seasons and get consistancy in the league at the same time before pushing onto CL thoughts

Good luck to Pardew/ the squad either way it ends up

*waits for some one to copy paste their team sheet* :D

Whats he done better than any other flash in the pan promoted team this year?

When he has Norwich in 9th position NEXT season, we can start saying what a great job he is doing.

Two decades ago Norwich mounted TWO title challenges in the space of 3 years.

Its not as if he's taken Ipswich Town to 5th place or anything just yet is it?

No one doubting that but what happen on and off the pitch at newcastle make pardew the man for me.

But he will have to finish of what he started and get Newcastle into Europe prob Champions league to win manager of the year.

I prefer Lambert over Rodgers but I think he win it

I thought we are judging on this season? There's a lot of things you have to take into account, but the fact is Norwich had the worst team/squad on paper coming into this season and he has guided them to the top half of the table and equal points with Liverpool.

This is after two consecutive promotions with pretty much the same team throughout each league, those who cannot see that being a massive achievement are deluded.

I can see it as an achievement but I see guiding a relegation tipped team to potential champions league football as better.

Both Lambert and Rodgers have done really well but if they lose a few on the bounce and the teams below them win they will be down to 12-15th straight away and that hardly an achievement finishing there.

And I think Liverpool fans would agree when I say finishing level on points with them isn't a massive achievement this year.
