Meh, what I seem to notice is, whenever a club is buying or selling a keeper, or has a second young keeper, people overblow every single mistake while pretending that other keepers literally never make any.

Čech made errors and was in poor form (by his standards) in England, Courtois was in excellent form over in Spain.


It was not 'overblowing' anything, for the last couple of seasons Courtois has comfortably being the better keeper.

Having watched most of Atletico's games to believe Courtois, who got himself utterly needlessly red carded only yesterday, makes no mistakes you are entirely wrong.

Secondly, Arsenal don't own Courtois, I never claimed he was better in the last two years. Saying Courtois is better isn't the same thing as saying Cech is a BAD keeper, being less good than an exceptional keeper isn't automatically terrible. The only relevant comparison TO ARSENAL, is who is better out of Cech, Chesny and Ospina. The reality is it's likely to be Cech and likely better than any other keeper we could get at the same price.
 
Can we have a defender who can head the ball and a left full back who can stop the crosses coming in please

I'm unaware I said Courtois does not make mistakes? :confused:, could you point to where I did?

I said, that in his last 'full' season for Chelsea, Čech was in poor form (by his standards) and made errors. Something that in the same season while playing in Spain Courtois was not doing, he was having a brilliant season and at the time it was easy to see who was the better keeper. It was also easy to see Čech being moved on, I was surprised to see him spend an entire season as number two.

No, Arsenal do not own Courtois (the majority of clubs would have him in a heartbeat though), but I was making the point that Čech was overrated for a period during his decline after the head injury, he finished his last full season poorly. ( I do not think there is a ~huge~ difference between him and Osprina) It does not make him a bad keeper, far from it, he is still a good goalkeeper. However, his mistakes and poor form at times are unsurprising to some of us.

I'm not convinced that it was a good move for Arsenal, it was however excellent business by Chelsea, in fact, it is hard to fault a lot Chelsea's transfer negotiations.
 
75billion of talent on the field today, 3 shots on target to West Ham's 3 shots on target. Wenger does this so often, going wrong, put on multiple strikers, 99/100 times we end up with 6-7 guys standing just inside the box all waiting for the ball having dragged almost the entire West Ham team inside the box. There is no space, no quality, just rushing forwards then having no idea what to do. His plan B has been the same for a decade, take off fullbacks(who are our best wide players/crossers) and put everyone in the box. It's taken him so long to come up with this tactic, it's shamefully bad.
 
Arsenal fans should be delighted with the result today, just think what would've happened if they didn't have Cech to organise the defence.
