Looking back at the match last night I'm even happier with the result this morning. Spurs played extremely well but we still looked a level above them without Lucas, who's vital to the way we play, and Sterling who's been our most consistent attacking player this season. Add a half fit Sturridge in to the mix and we were seriously lacking in two key departments yet still managed to come out on top. Another great performance from Ibe and the goal from Mario topped things off nicely :)

Would hate it if Pardew beat us tonight. Then he'll think he was actually better than he was. Thing is the Palace players have much more desire to win than the Newcastle boys. Hopefully the likes of Cabella will go out and play with a point to prove.

But I doubt it.

Should be an easy enough win for United tonight but we are not playing very well at the moment and until we change the setup of the team I don't think we will.

There is an article on mirrorfootball asking "experts" to pick Uniteds best XI and like many on here, almost every single one of them is putting Rooney back up front.

It feels like its not even a lack of quality in the midfield that is pulling Rooney back there but a wealth of underperforming attackers.

We have Di Maria, Blind, Carrick, Mata, Januzaj, Fellaini, Herrera, Young who can all play there but instead we have the pondersome Rooney who struts around the midfield playing pointless passes a lot of the time and slowing our game down.

We have ended up with a poorly functioning midfield built around an attacker. Our attack is then poorly supplied and misfiring when it does get a chance. We should still bundle our way to 4th place but I don't see the point in keeping RvP and Falcao unless they both improve and part of that improvement needs to be dropping one of them and putting Rooney back where he belongs and letting proper midfielders do their job.

Yeah, we need to start firing on a few more cylinders or we will struggle to get top 4 if Tottenham and Liverpool continue their form. There is no reason we shouldn't be playing much better other than our unwillingness to play Rooney up front and drop RvP / Falcao. At times this season we have played brilliantly yet an injury occurs and suddenly the whole team and tactics changes and we are back to square one.

We don't need to do anything particularly special tactically to get 4th position with the players we have. Playing them out of position and in strange systems just results in poor performances where the sum of our parts is much greater than the whole.

I think tonight's game is actually pretty huge, mainly because we need to start playing well and the 3 points are critical at the moment.

We need to change the team around a bit (which sounds like it won't happen, going on early leaks), and absolutely thump a team who still play fairly well (not like Hull a while back). That will hopefully improve confidence, because while we aren't on a particularly bad run, we could be if things hadn't gone our way.

And, it's Burnley... so shouldn't be much of a contest, but we look so ponderous at times it wouldn't surprise me if we struggle.

Hoping for a different setup in midfield and attack, because another first half like the one against West Ham will be depressing.

I said after the West Ham game, assuming we keep the same formation, I'd like to see:

------Blind
Herrera - Di Maria
------Mata
Rooney - Wilson
