Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 11th May 2016]

Should have left with loads of time to spare. Was obvious West Ham fans would be out all day. It's the last game at Upton Park ever!

Doesn't excuse the silly behaviour of the fans but come on should expect traffic today...

Doesn't excuse DS from not mentioning the hooligans at all either

From BBC
West Ham co-Chairman David Sullivan speaking to 5 live: "It is depressing really, it will be a late night for our fans and some of them won't be able to stay. I don't understand why United couldn't get here at 4pm. They could have got here early. They knew it would be busy. It's crazy.

"There was congestion in the street and they couldn't get the coach in. There were people around the coach, but there was no attack on the coach.

"If you check the coach there won't be any damage to it. If we arrived late at Old Trafford they wouldn't put the kick-off back."

What are you talking about? :P

That's twice United have been late for kick off in recent months, said it before but if a team can't get there ahead of time for a scheduled kick off it should be a match forfeit barring something extreme, the FA won't do that though due to all of the money involved in ensuring the game goes ahead.

Spurs delay was totally Utd's fault, so fair enough

Tonight we were on time, yards away from the car park and couldn't get in due to the crowds (potentially with people without tickets) - so the above would be very harsh indeed (and thinking about it - the home club could "organise" fans to do this against a title rival or whatever, so its not exactly easy to "govern")

Teams should arrive hours in advance tbf rather than expecting to step off the bus and onto the pitch inside the space of 15mins, the whole point of playing away games is that to the away team there are some inconveniences such as waiting around in an unfamiliar dressing room, teams just try to negate that by arriving as late as possible.

Statement from the Metropolitan Police: "We are aware that a number of items were thrown at the Manchester United coach.

"One police officer and a member of the public sustained minor injuries. No arrests have been made."
