Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [8th - 12th September 2017]

I mentioned it in the summer regarding our defending but we're the most naive team in the world. Otamendi offered us up a red card on a plate midway through the first half when, already booked, he tried to bring Salah down when he was breaking away - Salah goes down and Otamendi's off but instead he hurdles the challenge and then wastes the cross. You look at Otamendi's reaction to the Mane red - the second the challenge goes in he's running to the ref trying to get Mane sent off. It might not be nice to see but you've got to do these sorts of things because other sides will and you'll only be disadvantaged.

People that need an explanation for that red have their own issues I think. It was a clear as day reckless and dangerous tackle. He's caught another player with his studs at head height at full speed, it's as dangerous as it gets in football. A leg break may hurt more, but won't kill you, a kick in the head can kill you, there is literally no excuse for a tackle like that, none.

Hell drunkendude, if that means I am in the same state of issues as Neville and Henry, I will accept that state gladly :)

Red card aside that was a woeful half from us.

Salah has been appalling despite ruining Otamendi over and over again, TAA looks like he's never played a game of football in his life, Mignolet was saved an embarrassment and Klavan strikes again.

We have no issues in defence :o

Must admit , been surprised by TAA, seems unusually off form today. Klavan no surprise though.

Think your being harsh on Arnold, he is up against de bryne which is no easy task especially for his age etc. Usual ending up in 2v1.

The issue today is just klavan. Cause you know dijk was only centre back that existed in klopp eyes

To be fair Ota has just seen Mane absolutely destroy his team mate, Otamendi was pretty damn reserved in his reaction to Mane because he was basically just pointing/wagging a finger. After applying a flying kick to your team mates head a lot of players would have reacted much much worse to Mane than Otamendi did and as for trying to get a player sent off. There are times a player does nothing and a bunch of players surround a ref saying he should get sent off, then there are times someone flying kicks someone in the head and players have every right to ask the ref what he's going to do about it.

Ota was getting beaten all the time before mane red...

Neville was really good for 1, maybe 2 years, now he's just a cliche ridden idiot like the rest are. Henry was a terrible pundit from day one, he's a genuinely absolutely awful pundit. I absolutely love the guy to bits as a player, love him, but he's a dire dire pundit/commentator.

Caragher, as biased as you could be in this position, is saying it's a red and Neville/Henry are wrong, he's also calling Neville on his BS.

Caragher hasn't done what 99% of pundits do which is even if they start off well become a cliche ridden biased moron. Neville was good, but he's pretty much awful as a pundit/commentator now. Caragher even with the accent, is a monumentally better pundit and even beating his bias has called this right while also calling Neville on his crap.

I don't think Liverpool can complain about the red card it was wreckless and keeper could have a broken jaw for all we know. I kind of have sympathy for Mane though because you've got to go for those kind of chances, it's just unlucky really.

It could still be 0-0 if the Liverpool defence hadn't been so poor.

Difficult to see how Liverpool get back into this in the 2nd half, never easy against City at home, but 2 down , with 10 men...thats Everest climbing territory. Think it could be 4-0 by the end. Probably best now to just get this 45mins out of the way and forget about it and focus on the CL match coming up instead.

Normally with a young player I would agree, but TAA has so far been very calm and levele headed for his inexperience and not been phased , which is maybe why he seems unusually nervous today to me.
Yeah. He's even looked nervous when taking throw ins but whether that's the opposition or lack of support he'll improve massively with experience so it might be a good lesson if he's kept on.
