Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [8th - 12th September 2017]

Need to ban players raising their foot above hip height

Also their fans singing about Gerrard as their player has an apparent head injury is hilarious, garbage club

Well, Neville still insisting its a yellow, Carragher saying its a red (but only after watching several replays) , so thats two professional footballers with over half a century of proper football experience behind them with opposite opinions on it. You have to say, one of the great things about football is that it creates differences of opinion for everyone to discuss.

I have to see it but the way they described the red on the radio (I was in the car) was that the ball was coming over Manes shoulder and he put his foot up to control it, at no point taking his eyes off the ball?

Correct, head to head collision has just as much chance of injury, elbow is even worse which is routinely allowed

Surely Mane just "wanted it more" - thats the usual horse **** justification you get from Neville isnt it?

No, Neville's position seems to be the rewards of a goal are too big to bottle going for it, he hasn't really explained how it is or isn't a red though.

Yes and I see the goalie barging more then anything else.

Must be watching different replays then as he 100% goes to head the ball, and in fact does head it before Mane catches him.

Cheers. Still need to see it obviously but if that's the case never been a red for me, if he doesn't know the keeper is there what can he do?

If that's going to be a red then they just need to outlaw a foot going over waist high on the chance someone could be there.

I'm just being a bitter Arsenal fan recalling the Cheslea goal against us last year where Alonso smashed Bellerin with his elbow on route to scoring, he "wanted it more" so that apparently its ok.

If we're the perfect team to expose City's weaknesses, they are ours too. We're always so open on turn overs and City have the players that can play that 1st time throughball to expose us.

This is a rout now.

On further reflection I think the red was fair, a difficult situation but it's dangerous play however you look at it.

Now we're playing a midfielder as a CB because we don't have any decent CB's to bring on.

Klopp is going to have to answer a lot of questions between now and January with this defence.

Slaughter and embarass Arsenal 4-0 one week, lose by a similar amount the following week to Man City. Ahh...the inconsistent life of a Liverpool fan !
