Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [8th - 13th March 2019]

You can see United cannot wait for the international break. Team is threadbare now and needs a rest.

Sorry I don't buy that, Matic and Pogba would have been completely fresh and Dalot only played for an hour - might have been an emotional hangover from wed night but the whole team where shockingly poor for the whole game today - so many passes either far too long or too short, two yards slower to every ball

Utd missed Lingard and Herrera more than Arsenal missed Torreira, but that's no excuse maybe a bit of attitude / application was wrong as well from Utd

Reminds me of a few performances under JM earlier in the season and last season where we just didn't look on it at all

Would be really angry about the pen if it was the decider as it was pretty soft (possibly one of those "home" decisions) but we just didn't look likely to score - nothing really "clicked" today

Even lindelof who has been outstanding for the last 3 months looked pretty poor all game

We've had quite a few matches and injuries so you can see why they might be tired/not sharp, especially with the change playing style.

I think it was closer than the scoreline suggests and not as bad a performance as it might seem. It was still poor but it's not like Arsenal dominated us.

Fred is shocking and Matic was especially poor. Lukaku needs 10 chances per goal.

Agreed about Lingard/Herrera.

Brilliant? Neither team dominated and you won due to United errors.

Even the stats show it was pretty much even.
Don’t care what the stats say, from start to finish we deserved the win. Teams who don’t take their chances don’t deserve to win games.

Which is fine, but your performance was hardly brilliant IMO but perhaps that's what Arsenal fans are used to these days :p

If we had VAR, would Lacas penalty have been overturned or would it have been deemed referees call as it wasn’t a clear and obvious error?

Hit the post twice plus the hand the keeper got when Lukaku was 1v1. Could have been very different. De Gea blunder was the biggest change. Penalty was soft but then again we got the one on Wednesday.

Also Arsenal rested 5 players midweek so had 1 eye on this game. We were definitely not as strong as when we met them in the cup. We haven't really had the chance to rotate our best players due to how much of an uphill struggle we have had after Jose and our cup run has been crazy hard.

I think they'd have left it because it wasn't a "clear and obvious" mistake, I'd have booked him for simulation personally but as many people are arguing it's a penalty so if it comes down to "interpretation" by the VAR official the referees original decision stands. It's daft just transferring subjective decision making from the referee to VAR.

Matic is awful cant keep up with the top premiership teams.

Fred is a brainless idiot. Screwed up a number of attacks and giften them a needless penalty.

Game could have gone either way, but de gea really gifted arsenal an undeserved opener.

Rashford has been awful for the past couple of games too. Take away the last minute penalty heroics and his performance was abject against both psg and arsenal.

All things considering arsenal should have got the 3 points at old Trafford as well but we diddnt and was a bit unlucky in that game..

Things tend to balance itself out so deserved winners last night..

You don't beat probably the most in form team in the league by not playing brilliantly on :)

The only difference was the finishing and like i said earlier in thread arsenal will probably manage to mess up getting top 4 :p

Eh? We totally deserved that opener. We was the better team in the first 20 minutes or so.

Man U fans really are the worst at accepting defeat gracefully.

Not sure VAR would rule out that penalty even though it was pretty soft. Fred leant into Laca's back with his shoulder and did push him although not very hard. Very happy to get the win though, was slightly concerned after our contrasting mid-week games. We don't turn up already beaten now like we have in previous seasons and actually have a tactical plan for a change.

I don't think anyone can deny that there is an improvement with Emery now. 12 points better off this season already and have got 12 points vs the top 6 compared to 3 from Wenger in the previous 2 seasons. Yeah we still have some major defensive issues (some of which can be attributed to injuries and never being able to field the same side) but I feel like progress is being made. I really hope we can keep in the top 4 and we get more than the reported 40 million to strengthen in the summer. We definitely have the easiest run in of the 4 challenging for 3rd and 4th spots.

Not really we played bad, you played bad. The goal came from a nothing shot that any goalkeeper not dreaming about £500k a week would save.
I don’t agree, many a keeper would have been beaten by that. I think DDG is being unfairly vilified over it. The swerve was late and vicious. And we played well in the beginning. You’re the only one saying we didn’t.

Did you play well in beginning or was it that united were poor for 20 mins is debatable united hit the bar just before you scored.so small margins but you took your chances we didn't that was the difference and you won because of that .

I reckon jay leno could have saved that. Still just proves ddg is human afterall.

Its like saying baffoon wasnt at fault mideek for lukaku's second. He was ,and sure a ball can move but we all know what happened.

We played well in the beginning and pressed united hard stopping them from getting into the game
