Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9 - 12th March 2013]

Jesus, that was nerve racking. Rodgers got it completely wrong again with the formation and then the substitution (should've been Henderson) but reverting back to 4-3-3 gave us control of midfield and we eventually capitalised.

Last 7 homes games we've score 27 and only conceded 2

Edit: Vert and Dembeley were awesome for Spurs today, as the Spurs fans have been saying all season.

Southampton, Villa, Reading and West Ham our next 4 games. Really should be looking at sealing that 6th spot with those run of fixtures but we're more likely to stuff it up :o

A very odd game but the sort we usually end up losing so I won't complain too much.

I thought our starting 11 was a bit of a risk; we were playing almost a 4-2-4 against a Spurs side with 5 players that were going to be playing centrally (+ Defoe). That said, first half was pretty even but we found ourself ahead and probably should have had a pen at 1-0 too. Really poor first goal to concede, we completely switched off to Bale coming back on the pitch from his injury and gave him far too much space to put a cross in which we defended far too weakly. Same again for their second, we're far too soft defending crosses into the box these days - what I'd give for a 25 year old Sami Hyypia :(

After Spurs went ahead it didn't look like we were going to get back into it but thankfully Walker's got a mistake in him. No question about the pen; brain dead defending from Ekkoto(sp). We should have had 1 if not 2 more pens in the 2nd half too; Sturridge was clearly kicked by Vert, if it makes some people happier then book Sturridge for diving too but it's still a foul and then the challenge on Johnson was as clear a foul as you see - no idea what the ref was thinking in not giving it.
This is where Rodger's fails every time. Doesn't have the experience to change our fortunes.

If you're talking about in-game changes, I couldn't disagree more. Zenit aside (Arsenal away his subs were too slow too), his subs are generally excellent and he makes-up for some questionable starting line-ups/tactics.
let me guess, purdy. that was a pen on johnson too?

Absolutely nailed on.

Vertongen is amazing bar his rash challenges.

Spurs doing well, I actually like him Lloris and AVB, last year I think I hated everything about them.

Really gutted about the result today, what BAE and Walker were thinking I have no idea, but hey ho, these things happen.

Unfortunately now all of the 'pool fans are going to be stating they deserved the win and now they're on for a European spot. I have news for you, at no point did you look remotely threatening and the game should have been put to bed by 65mins in.

Oh, and how was the ref wearing a white shirt? Gerard made 2 bookable offences in quick succession and got no card at all, ridiculous.

Anyone know what that scuffle was about at the end? Hope it isn't another racial thing.

Jeeez. It was probably just a spill over from the little incident before our 3rd. Dembele fouled Suarez and then both of them were giving each other little pats on the head, trying to wind the other up - Demebele seemed to get more wound up than Suarez though.
