Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9th - 12th December 2011]

I just found it funny that your first instinct was to worry about your midfield at the weekend rather than his health.

I didn't mean for it to come across as 'cold' in any way, but obviously it's disappointing for the team.

To officially announce that he's taking a break from the game, it's got to be something pretty serious. Despite him playing for Utd, I hope I'm wrong but I'd be surprised if he'll play again because as Bucket's mentioned, this sounds like something you don't get over.

I agree, I doubt we'll see him playing again either, at least for this season. We don't want another Hargreaves situation unfortunately.

I have no idea what the disease or treatment etc are apart from that I think it's something that is ongoing throughout your life.

If he can be treated with medicine etc and get his strength and fitness back up (I think that this is what he may struggle with because of what the condition does to you, from what I can read on Wiki) then I'm sure he will play again - but it's definitely going to take a good while for him to get used to it.

I think it's quite heavily to do with diet as well so that will be a struggle to change and tailor to him. A challenge certainly for all involved.

He has only made 10 appearances this season, 8 in the league and 2 in Europe, so yes it's a pain for our midfield situation but he hasn't been that readily available for a while and at the end of the day he needs to get better.

This leaves us with Carrick, Giggs, Park (who shouldn't be in central midfield really). So either Gibson comes back into the fold or we start giving Pogba/Morrison chances. Jones is doing pretty well but we're hardly strong in numbers at the back so he will be needed there.

Thorpy has a feeling fergie will rely on youth over a january signing.

Why are you still going on about this?

Christ, get over it man.

Suppose it was his fault Spurs were bloody terrible in the first half and lucky to go in to half time two goals down.

Do Spuds have somewhere he can chain his bike?

Sorry but Spurs were robbed, I can't remember a worse performance by the officials (in terms of number of game-influencing decisions got wrong) since 2004.

edit: Still can't believe that Mcleish doesn't pick Albrighton to start for Villa more often, when they sold Young and Downing I thought this season would be perfect for him, he impressed me immensely last season yet Mcleish seems to pick the likes of Heskey ahead of him, heck he even plays fullbacks at right midfield instead of Albrighton.

It seems pretty simple to me, you put Bent and Agbonlahor up front, N'zogbia left wing, Albrighton right wing, two in central midfield (ideally Ireland when on form but more likely Petrov as he's captain, plus a holding midfielder).

I don't get this type of opinion, what if Spurs were 12-0 up in the first half, and deserved to finish the game 12-0, but the ref gave Stoke 13 penalties.

What relevance does Spurs being crap in the first half have to anything at all.

Spurs could have been 6-0 down when the really bad decisions happened, and have lost the game 6-2 after getting a second penalty that they should have gotten.

The scoreline is irrelevant, the performance is irrelevant, those decisions were horrific. Maybe Spurs will come 5th instead of fourth by way of GD and 1 more would have put them 4th and in the champs league, maybe it won't, it still doesn't change the bad decisions being bad decisions. Even if they had won the game by a 6 goal margin, they were still bad decisions in one of the worst ref'd games on donkeys years.

Maybe because just the other day we witnessed one of the worst performances of any man in a job role he earns a living from.... and then find out within a day or so that he will now be performing a similar role in our very next game, a huge, massive, possibly season defining game.

I'm not that confident in the man, or the other idiot I highlighted but you choose to ignore, the post wasn't all about Mr.C.Foy. I'm equally unhappy about Webb.

Why what's your problem?

:D

Even the FA wouldn't have the nerve to take the matter any further surely?

I was surprised they didn't after he claimed Foy enjoyed giving you nothing. It's one thing saying the ref had a poor game but to imply he was bias or that he was deliberately giving decisions against a side is usually not tolerated.
