Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [Sunday 13th May 2012]

whats the verdict on the Barton sending off ?

Utd did as much as they were able to, bit gutted QPR lost 2 goals inside 5 minutes - but didnt help with Kenny's gifted first goal (although it sounds like he made some pretty decent saves by the sounds of it also)

Shows Utd arent that far off, even with whats meant to be a pretty rubbish squad.....Utd/ Fergie just have to be careful to strengthen at least as much as City are likely to do (especially with Chelsea and Liverpool likely to spend small fortunes also)

I don't think so.

Someone raised a very good point, City's transfer policy has been to buy players in their prime. City's team will need wholesale changes in the next 2-3 years.

IF anything comes of FFP . I know a bunch of swiss teams have been barred from European competition, but while meaning no offence the Swiss league isnt exactly high profile.

Even so , those players that City have now will only get better for the next season or two - even Yaya is only late 20's so has a fair way to go yet before we see the back of him , and majority of their 1st team are even younger.

Admittedly apart from De Jong, and arguably Dzecko, are their squad players anywhere as good as their 1st team....thats potentially a weakness but not a vast one

Fergie has more to worry about over the summer than Mancini imo especially as its not even certain yet that Vidic will be able to perform to this standard after such an injury/his age

Utd's experience shouldnt be discounted of course, at least thats a +

Depends on our signings, and theirs. Interesting times ahead!
And who we have to sell to raise funds, because realistically, were not gonna see any major amount of money coming from the current ownership. A paltry £50 million last season, too much money is going out of the club to service debt and into the Glazers personal accounts.

I do feel a bit for Bolton, if they had hung on against Stoke imagine how would have felt watching that final few minutes!

Oh and any replays of the Barton sending off?

Although we got beat at the Etihad that game will do players like Jones, Cleverly, Young, De Gea & Smalling a world of good. If they cant learn from the pressure of games like that then they are not Utd Quality I'm afraid.

Martinez to replace Dalglish says my man on the street
The Swansea team he built before moving on to Wigan played some exceptional football and he's managed to get Wigan playing at a similar level on a very limited budget. Don't know if he's the right man for Liverpool but I think he'll go on to have a very successful career.

apparantly the plan is to clear Fergie's office out and take the empties back to the off licence
Almost pmsl at that un Rotty.:D Still, fair play to city, it grates a bit too admit it, but over the course of the season theyve played well.

I was just thinking about this whole Barton thing. How come he doesn't get arrested for his actions?

Are footballers immune to police interception whilst on the pitch? Seems to me, if any random person did that to someone on the street, they would get arrested for it.

Am I making sense?

Ive seen some cases were the police have got involved, but generally it's left to the football authorities to deal with it themselves. Off course it will depend on the seriousness of any incident.

Well, I don't know how our very complex finances are but I'm sure some funds will come from somewhere.

We're level on points with City for goodness sake, we just need a few improvements, we don't need a £50 million pound player or anything like that.

I think if we had Vidic we'd have won the league, and we'll have him next season so that's a big boost. Everyone has been constantly praising Kompany and our Kompany has been missing.

Obviously it'll depend on what City do as well, I don't know what their plans are for signings other than that they are looking at Hazard.

Serious Jekyll and Hyde season for Spurs, we were lucky to be in the running for 3rd still in the last few weeks.

As soon as we failed to capitalise against Villa I knew we'd blown it... oh well.

C'mon Bayern!
