Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [Sunday 13th May 2012]

I dont disagree with that all - however before we know anything really about Cleverley we need to see him play for a whole season not just 1/4 of it, although he certainly shows a lot of promise

Smalling just came back from injury at the wrong time for him/ the team - he was just missing a bit of match sharpness imo , hopefully the groin injury isnt too bad and he has totally recuperated before pre-season.

I still think Utd need some young /experienced players (ie mid 20's) in CM positions to replace the likes of Park, Anderson, Fletcher?,Scholes, Giggs (only 1 of which imo is gaurenteed for next season anyway)

Agree with all that, Most deffo, Park should be a fringe player, not one to be relied on in championship deciding games. Anderson never really lived upto the potential. Make no bones about it, midfield is where we lost it this year, simple as that

No London side has ever won the European cup/Champions League.

Great atmosphere at Spurs today. It's been a very entertaining season. I remember only a few seasons back when the UEFA Cup seemed like a big deal. How times have changed at WHL.

Cleverley hasn't really played enough to be judged properly yet. He doesn't seem all that great from what we've seen of him so far. He started off quite well (I remember that excellent attacking move early in the season with Rooney for example), but whenever he's made a sub appearance he's looked a bit absent. He needs a proper run of games.

If we intelligently bolster the midfield with some quality (not outrageously expensive quality) then we'll be in good stead. I would quite like a striker too as Hernandez isn't a complete player and Welbeck is all over the place at times.

True, level on points is nothing to be ashamed off. But, i wonder if we can hold on to the likes of vidic? He was definitely missed in the squad. As for hazard, utd have expressed an interest in him as well, but with city being able to pay more on fee and wages, it could swing it in their favour. I think this summers transfer market will be very interesting, particularly with the euros coming up to showcase talent.

Give or take £20m for League position, maybe an extra £10 - 15m for tv rights, plus maybe £10m for selling fringe players

IF Fergie wants to spend, £50m should be available before owners have to dip into their pockets

Fergie will do all his buying (or majority) before Euros I would think, as from his point of view it will only raise the potential transfer fee. Doubt Hazard will end up at Utd, too expensive (wages ) by all accounts so far.

No they won't need massive replacing, what takes time is bedding them in and get them used to the pressure of playing for the title. I know you haven't had players like that for a few years ;)

They don't need to replace 4 or 5 first team players in one go like you're trying to suggest though

The players you mentioned will be phased out over time (as I said, they've all got a good few years left in them) and the players that are brought in won't be forced straight into the starting 11 and relied upon. For example, Tevez will probably go this summer and a replacement will come in but with Aguero, Balotelli etc, they won't need to rely on that replacement from the word go.

City will be fine, they will buy Hazard and a few others, sell the retards like Tevez, they will be even better next season

Agree totally

( think TC had a tough time with sub appearances, Robbo - I think you are right, but given his inexperience I will see how it goes next season . Certainly his starts at the beginning of the season were good enough for where he is in his career for Utd to give him much more time.

Especially with Owen likely out of contract, and Berba likely to be sold I cant see Fergie going into next season without a 4th striker available (although as you say, its going to be a cheaper option rather than a mega signing).

Still think Hernandez got a bit of a rough deal this season, not helped by injuries - Welbeck has been too up and down for me, personally think he should be 3rd or 4th choice next season (if a new striker appears).

CM , of course, should be strengthened 1st off without doubt
Huh? What makes you say that? It's not as though they budget to break even, then all prize money comes as a nice surprise. If anything, they'll be down on their projected incomes, this year, because of dropping out of the Champions League...

The club will have made a nice profit, obviously, but I'd've thought it would have been earmarked for servicing debt, mainly... so, to spend, the owners will have to dip into their pockets (as the profits are already going to be spent on interest/paying off debt).

Marketing revenues currently sitting at around £100m /year......easily paid for by the £40m ish of debt repayments (not to mention 70,000 seats every home game etc etc).

The drop in revenues was reflected in only getting £15m from tv , instead of the £50-60m that is gaurenteed from Final appearances (even £15m is probably too low)

What an end to the season, today had everything! Well done to Citeh!

However I don't even know where to start on Joey Barton, possibly some of worst actions I've seen ever in the EPL. The attack on Agüero in particular (from behind) was outrageous - and itself deserves at least a 20 game suspension. He's had his chances, now it's time for the premier league to take some serious action.

I'll echo some others comments that it's ashame to see Bolton go down after a run of 11 years, but, they've good enough to bounce straight back.

As for Wolves and Blackburn (especially Blackburn) I just can't see them returning to the EPL anytime soon.

Unreal day of footie, unreal season to be fair, don't think we'll see anything like this again for a long time.

City deserved champions, by far the best team for me.
