Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [Sunday 13th May 2012]

Barry, Toure, Toure, Lescott, Tevez :s

All of those have got at least a few years left in them and with the possible exception of Yaya Toure, the others shouldn't be too difficult to replace.

Their squad will need no more rebuilding over the next few years than most others.

Barton's a grade A ****, the only replay I saw of the actual first incident did look like Tevez may have hit out at Barton and didn't show an awful lot of what Barton did, but his reaction after that, its not even like Aguero was in Barton's face, he was talking to the ref sideways on to Barton and wasn't looking or talking to him, just knee's him for no reason and tries to headbutt someone else.

That's his second red so he should see a bigger ban for second red anyway, and for being violent rather than leaving the pitch, I would think/hope he gets at least a 10 game ban, hopefully much longer. What I really hope is QPR have grounds for firing him and can simply get rid of him and not pay the pratt another million or two before they can sell him on in the transfer window.

Well done to QPR, seem to remember no one around here(but me of course) giving them a hope in hell of getting anything today, let alone leading for a decent length of time.

I honestly couldn't decide, all season, today, during the games who I actually wanted to win the title, the rich idiots, or the rich idiots with huge debt who win altogether too often :p

Great way to end the season though, epic finish, couldn't believe it when the final goal went in and also couldn't help but laugh(and feel a little guilty) at the Utd fans in the stadium all jumping up and down then all reacting in the same instant to the news :p :(

Arsenal, lol, two absolute gifts of goals to secure 3rd, supremely lucky. I still think we need a new manager, Newcastle could genuinely push us again next year, Chelsea are going to rebuild, Spurs if they get some testicles might actually not throw away half of their season and Arsenal are going to have a very very difficult time.

Serious Jekyll and Hyde season for Spurs, we were lucky to be in the running for 3rd still in the last few weeks.

As soon as we failed to capitalise against Villa I knew we'd blown it... oh well.

C'mon Bayern!

Yep. An awful lot of 'what if's' are going through my head.

What a season this has been. Happy with where Fulham finished as well considering the 56/57 games this season and the sale of Zamora included. Shame our summer will probably be a **** one :p

How'd you rate Jol to Hughes and Roy? Seem to be playing better football from an outsiders POV.

Have you got that image of the Arsenal players mocking Nasri to hand?

Well, I don't know how our very complex finances are but I'm sure some funds will come from somewhere.

We're level on points with City for goodness sake, we just need a few improvements, we don't need a £50 million pound player or anything like that.

I think if we had Vidic we'd have won the league, and we'll have him next season so that's a big boost. Everyone has been constantly praising Kompany and our Kompany has been missing.

Obviously it'll depend on what City do as well, I don't know what their plans are for signings other than that they are looking at Hazard.
True, level on points is nothing to be ashamed off. But, i wonder if we can hold on to the likes of vidic? He was definitely missed in the squad. As for hazard, utd have expressed an interest in him as well, but with city being able to pay more on fee and wages, it could swing it in their favour. I think this summers transfer market will be very interesting, particularly with the euros coming up to showcase talent.

Phewww what a day for Arsenal, finally managed to bag 3 pts and with Newcastle losing to Everton and Spurs winning, it was pretty tense. Just over the damn moon that we beat Spurs to 3rd place:p:D:D:D. Although saying that we should have really bagged 3rd place a few weeks back but a dismal run of draws in the past few weeks put untol pressure on us but as i said am very happy that we bagged and tagged 3rd place. Especially moreso after our horrendous start to the season. Just goes to show we can still be a team after Fabregas left and to some extent the french merc, Nasri leaving us.

Congrats to the City for winning the EPL, tbh with the money they spent on their squad im absolutely shocked they had to win their last game...nice try from QPR to keep them at bay and they almost got there but were beaten by an injury time winner :/

Unlucky Utd, tbh you shot yourselves in the foot with the defeat at Wigan and that draw against Everton a few weeks back...should you have won both games then you would be 20 time EPL champs.

Like i said im just happy happy that we bagged 3rd place, god know how much rubbish we would have had to put up with Spurs getting 3rd place and listening to them go on about it:p.

I'm a lot happier with Jol than Hughes, but it has been probably the best way for it to work our, Hodgson's platform of organization, to Hughes bringing in some flair and specific players and Jol to finalize it all. Jol has done what most managers haven't been able to do and hes done it within a season - making us more attacking and successful away from home, and bringing in players that aren't 37.

Much more confident with Jol in charge to replace Dempsey/Dembele, if they were to go. Moving Dembele to centre mid was a master stroke.

We're definitely playing a lot more consistent football under Jol too which is promising. Murphy's replacement is pivotal, I'm not sure if he'll replace with another playmaker, or try create the flowing 'total' dutch football.

Unbelievable final game. I'm a neutral and was on the edge of my seat. When Aguero won it for City I actually jumped off my chair.

Barton, is an utter ****. I'd be happy if he was to never kick a football again.

Over the course of the season I'd say City deserved it, they've been the more entertaining side. That game was really a snapshot of City's season, start well, had a blip, make an amazing come back. Crazy stuff!!!

Utd... well sorry, but for me they are this years overachievers, it would have been a travesty if they had won the league again. It really does show you what a genius Ferguson is.

Although we got beat at the Etihad that game will do players like Jones, Cleverly, Young, De Gea & Smalling a world of good. If they cant learn from the pressure of games like that then they are not Utd Quality I'm afraid.

I dont disagree with that all - however before we know anything really about Cleverley we need to see him play for a whole season not just 1/4 of it, although he certainly shows a lot of promise

Smalling just came back from injury at the wrong time for him/ the team - he was just missing a bit of match sharpness imo , hopefully the groin injury isnt too bad and he has totally recuperated before pre-season.

I still think Utd need some young /experienced players (ie mid 20's) in CM positions to replace the likes of Park, Anderson, Fletcher?,Scholes, Giggs (only 1 of which imo is gaurenteed for next season anyway)

Very fair assessment

Came down to those games where Rooney had to play in midfield instead of attack in the end (plus Vidic's injury) - but hey ho , still pretty chuffed Utd were winning the League until last couple of minutes of the season

Doesnt stop it hurting like hell though :):(

No they won't need massive replacing, what takes time is bedding them in and get them used to the pressure of playing for the title. I know you haven't had players like that for a few years ;)
