Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [Sunday 13th May 2012]

Yeah the injuries to Holden and Chung Yong Lee have been a massive blow to us. We have a small squad at the best of times, so losing arguably our 2 best players has been a nightmare.

Selling Al Habsi for a pittance was a huge mistake. Bogdan has done pretty well this season, but he can't hold a candle to Al-Habsi, who is an excellent keeper imo.

As much as I loved Coyle when he played for us, and for the football he seemed to be evolving within us at the start of last season. he seems clueless when it comes to the defensive side of things. Throwing away a 2 goal lead against WBA last week with 15 minutes to go was criminal.

Still, I've supported us through darker times than this and will always love the club. I'm majorly worried about next season though, wouldn't surprise me if we "do a Leeds" :(

He hasn't, he was great for Arsenal....

Clichy at Arsenal = raped by Nani every time he played against him
Clichy at City = raped Nani both times he played against him

Clichy's game both defensively and in attack has improved boundless amounts since he left Arsenal

EDIT: Obviously though this could be a one off and he could go back to being **** next season ;)

haven't you made some other blunders in the transfer market, selling players for less than their worth (habsi springs to mind) and buying players for more than they're worth?

Any team that STILL has Kevin Davies taking a large paycheck and delivering next to nothing deserves to go down. He had a couple years being somewhat effective, mostly when Bolton actually played longball football. Trying to play passing football, and keeping Davies on wasn't really going to work.

Likewise said earlier this season Bolton had injury troubles, but aside from getting free work from loans(which is effectively cheating... ish) Bolton were turd last year with most/all of their team still fit, they had their current kind of form for 6-7 months of last season with a full squad.

Of course last year they weren't up against the truly awful Blackburn, Villa, etc, etc so the same Bolton team as last year might well have done better in the league this year. Overall though, they've been heading downwards for a while, despite Holden and Lee being out.

They needed to strengthen aside from them, and didn't.

Can see Villa and QPR struggling next season.

Big season coming up.

I think we will too. We've got no depth, limited attacking options and a clueless negative, dull manager. He's got to go. N'Zogbia has done toss all, Agbonlahor's turning into something of a journeyman, we sold our 2 best midfielders in Young and Milner to the $$ and our academy players aren't as good as the previous batch. Only a couple of them could scrape it in the prem but there's no real stand-out potential there, with the exception of Delfouneso who never seems to get a look in although hopefully when Heskey leaves he will get his chance.

/QUOTE]

He's hardly started a game this season as his form has been poor. It's only the last few games that he's actually been a bit useful. But when your other choices for strikers are N'gog (touch of a rapist), Klasnic (great finisher but otherwise lazy) and Sordell (why buy him if you're not going to use him?) are so bad, well, you're in for a bad time.

Can't really argue with your other points. We have heading downhill for a while, as I said earlier, and have not strengthened the areas where we were most lacking.

is he out of contract in the summer? i wonder if any pl clubs will go in for him, i can see him at stoke or sunderland ..... maybe even villa, or, infact any of 'those' kind of clubs.

what's the betting i read redknapp has snapped him up in 2 weeks time.

lol, and the one game in the past 2 years out of four that Nani got a goal or assist against Arsenal(that Clichy also played in) couldn't have been a one off.

Remember when all the genius Utd fans on here decided Anderson was the best player in the world ever, because he was better than Cesc ONCE..... wasn't Cesc having one bad game, it was infact obvious proof Anderson is the best central mid the prem league has seen in years.

How much did you get when Anderson got snapped up by Barca? Basing how good Clichy is off the ONE great game Nani had against Arsenal in the previous 2 whole years, is exactly as laughable as the fans who proclaimed Anderson better than Cesc off a SINGLE game.

McLeish seemed to imply on MOTD that funds are there in the summer and improvements will be made.... Villa got very lucky over these last couple of weeks though just getting those 2 points that basically saved you

drunkenmaster you cant call Bolton, one man team for 8 seasons

oh god, Wenger the master of turning nothing into nothing circa 2005!

With Wenger but his attitude is a disgrace, in his mine he should not lose, total sore loser, throws a hissy fit, amazing what he has done with Arsenal and continues to be in the Champs league but maybe a new man at the helm would be better!

Well, ignoring the fact that he started 20 games in the league and came on as a sub in 10 others, him being there at all is a salary that can't be paid to someone else. 50-60k a week on Davies = 3 young strikers wages you can't afford.

You could have sold him, got the guy who Fulham got, or, Jelavic, or, a half dozen other strikers.

He's there, contributes nothing and gets paid a lot, that is always bad for a team, even if he doesn't actually play. He still got appearances anyway when you were in need of something, and had he not been there, that might have been some 18year old striker on 5k a week who cost you 1mil who started the season on the bench and went on to score 15 for you.

Dead weight is dead weight, terrible decision to keep him around.

That was just an example of how much better Clichy has been at City v his time at Arsenal, I just tried to put it in simple terms for you as I know how you need things spelt out and all ;)

Well, as a United fan, i can't really complain. Man City are deserved winners. They beat us twice, and the time they beat us 6-1 has basically one them the league (+10 goal difference over us right there).

They have the better side on paper and have played the better footbal this season.

We really need to strengthen the squad this season if we are to stand a chance of competing again next season.

I just wish City didnt have to do it in on such a heart breaking way!

I had fully accepted that City had won the league weeks ago but today, i couldnt help but believe City had blown it and we had one it when they were 2-1 down with only injury time to go and we had won our game!

Trolls TBH :p
